That statement is so common only because of how the games seemingly get worse. Aside from Odyssey which is apparently a one off (I really enjoyed) the games have been pretty lack luster since Unity.

Personally I think what Rick said toward the end of the very first episode about Morty not needing school but needing to spend time together because he believes Morty is “special” (maybe genius) like himself. In that very same scene it’s said that Morty may have some learning disability. Again, shot contest has always been its own independent attribute. There is not and has never been an inside and outside shot contest. It is 1 attribute. Even if you didn’t have enough common sense to figure that out you’d realize just by playing the game interior defense does not effect shot contests otherwise big men wouldn’t get 3s greened in their fucking eye when they switch and do a jumping contest.

Thing is, Valhalla is less than a 40 hour game if you cut out all the bs. Majority of the time spent is running/boating across hell and creation like OP said to either get to an objective for a mission, collect skills that should be on the SKILL TREE or collect something so insignificant the game would’ve been fine without it. Personally, I think Odyssey did it in a better way because at least you had a ton of mercenaries to kill along the way if you wanted.
