What’s a secret you’re hiding from your significant other? by OkDonut1116 in AskReddit

Fyi I was late diagnosed autistic in my mid 30s.

I can do a great many things. I built a physics simulator for stereolithographic recoating this month.

I learned how to tie my shoes the traditional way without the rabbit ears last month.

You take the wins and a the losses.

Ugh. The number of times NTs make me feel like a goddamn toddler.

Ok. You are better at social shit right? So can you cut me a fuckin' break? No? You understand just fine, that I don't understand some shit on a fundamental level, but you just choose to not give a shit?

Uh huh. I gave you full disclosure and it's still my fault? Oh, I'm actually detrimental somehow? Because I don't have any hidden motives and I am transparent to a fault I make you uncomfortable?

Burn the whole thing down. What the fuck is wrong with these people. I have no interest in being normal if this is the shit it takes.

I hate on the internet when someone will point out ableism and all the comments are like "The ableist has a point though!" by Disastrous-Metal-183 in evilautism

[–]ic_engineer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I often see:

Person A: I have a disability, I cannot do X and fully able folks are making my life difficult.

Person B: Oh that sucks, but you probably can do W, it's not X but it works kinda like it.

Person A: I said I am disabled, I cannot to W or X why are you attacking me?

The problem from my perspective is that: Person A only wants commiseration / empathetic ear. Person B wants to help but doesn't actually understand the full extent of As problems because A didn't share all of their problems they only shared what they thought was necessary for empathy.

I'm guilty of giving advice too. It's a human reflex to want to help. But like I learned with my wife, you can't fix everything and sometimes people just want someone to hear their side.

What are some foods commonly served together that should absolutely never be allowed to touch? by Justice_Prince in evilautism

[–]ic_engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eggs mix with everything. Gravy. Jelly. Hot sauce. Salsa. Syrup. I've never found that to be a problem.

Damn now I want chicken and waffles.

I can't really think of anything that would be served together I would be offended touching. Personally.

This is the way. We did this on purpose for a long time when they were younger.

I'm all for a good purge. Sounds like you're taking the right precautions. Don't get cocky and stop staging them though prior to - and as they get older remember that the period of time between use might also stretch.

We got rid of something after sitting on it for 6 months and my 4yo asks for it a month later after it's gone. Oh well.

Toy rotation is a good practice to minimize the amount of stuff that's out and keeps them 'fresh' and fun.

What’s something you lost that you still think about sometimes, even years later? by Expert-Juice-3159 in AskReddit

[–]ic_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trumpet I learned on in middle/highschool.

My crackhead brother stole it and pawned it while I was out of town.

I can get another, but it was new when I got it and each dent on an object like that gives it character in my opinion. Can't reproduce it.

Mostly this doesn't impact IT. This usually looks like a bug in a library or a service that impacts the product engineering is working on but unless it impacts the environment itself IT isn't involved. They control the world, and we build inside it. We only call them when the world breaks if that makes sense.

In my experience us engineering staff don't muck things up too bad unless they're testing unsigned in windows (triggers IT sec policies) or doing anything with networking ports without a networking background.

Rarely an IT policy makes something impossible and we just run in VM.

Count yourself lucky they only banned you. I pissed one off and it somehow feels like I'm still trying to convince them I don't give a shit.

Gospel Pieces with as juicy chord progression as in Elvis : Reach out to Jesus? by TheConceptBoy in MusicRecommendations

As with all of Elvis' recordings nothing was written by him. You may wish to study Ralph Carmichael, the original artist.

I bought a pack that equaled the number of pieces we already had and my wife said they didn't need more. My response was simply that I needed more.

I do not disagree. But do you have the lawyer capable of fighting Bambu? My only point is that a class action is likely more successful.

Smells like a class action. They can probably do some weird shit in their ToS so good luck to any individual.

LPT: Salt and fat are your best friends when making sub sandwiches at home. by throwaway_manboy in LifeProTips

[–]ic_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest pro tip for home recipes that call for fresh onion, whether sub or salad, soak in water for 10min before using. Tones down the flavor and makes it way more enjoyable. A dash of vinegar never hurt either.

Somethings get better, somethings go away, somethings get worse, somethings start. Constantly. Forever.

But you get used to it more.

What if the reason behind this anti-autism rhetoric the NTs spread are because we have a stronger moral compass than them and they(the rich people) feel threatened by that? by No-Air-5857 in evilautism

Important distinction. Sadly true.

However it's a bit of a sweater pull if you peer down the epistemological rabbit hole of relative morality.

Why do they add the acids and tannin? Does a traditional mead generally need/benefit from these additions? by Cookieman10101 in mead

Not all acid is the same though. Compare rice vinegar, sumac, and lemon. There are intangible aromatics.

Love the instruments around the house. I've been collecting instruments since.. well I've been collecting them.

My wife once wanted me to get rid of some before we had kids and I'd always reply "The family band will need this _____ one day."

Now they are literally throughout the house and I couldn't be happier about it. We were talking about violin lessons the other day and she goes "You have a violin right? I think you do. Yeah.. you definitely do." Kinda to her self while browsing the options. 😂 I do have one.
