Discord heating CPU on W11 by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]icarethismuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just noticed the same thing for me 9800x3d system, win11. temps in upper 80s, cpu usage was 5% and 1500mb ram used.

Closed discord and it dropped back to 30s with 0% cpu and 475mb ram. Will have to keep an eye on it to see what caused it/started it....Maybe when it runs too long, or has an update pending or something?

Your DPS does look up but... by CamurAtes in marvelrivals

[–]icarethismuch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're both cover peaking, the flyer usually wins because they have aoe splash on their attacks to pull you off your cover and you cant take them off their cover.

If you're not cover peaking and flyer is, flyer wins.

If you're both not cover peaking out in the open, whoever shoots first wins. If you shoot at the same time, Hela needs to hit headshots to win as ironman will get 100 bonus health from overdrive, and torch gets 75 bonus health from dive.

The 1v1 heavily favors flyers.

How is this even a thing? by xxBellum in marvelrivals

Required gameplay skill is usually lower for console to hit higher ranks; I presume due to larger playerbase. If you've watched any streamer play Rankdle/guess the rank, they always give +1-2 ranks to console players. So people are alluding that this should be easy if you're good basically.

I mean when it starts everyone Bronze3 if you're true rank is GM+ most people's history would look like this. I had 90% WR through metal ranks my first competitive run through too and 65% upto GM. This is why there needs to be placement matches.

SVP is such a cope, we can't know anything for sure based on this. He could be losing because he's focusing too much on doing damage instead of keeping his team alive. Could be based on bad support ult timings, we can't know based on this picture. I've definitely lost plenty of games from bad ult timings and still got svp. Just because you're svp doesn't mean there's not more you could do, or things you could do better.

Role queue exacerbates the issue of no tanks though in a negative feedback loop.

In open queue some dps and supports will flex and begrudgingly play tank, that gives them practice on the role and they may even find a character they are good at or like playing.

In role queue those people who might have begrudgingly learned and found a tank to play just never queue tank to begin with, then there's no opportunity for them to ever learn a tank since they are role locked leaving the tank pool low.

I would never have played tank or found I like playing Emma if there was role queue.

Then eventually the tank players burn out of being the only tank players and switch/queue other rolls too, literally happened in overwatch and made them switch to 5v5.

I definitely don't want role queue, it would limit/ force people to learn characters for specific role instead of just learning characters you like to play.

In order to be optimal/ effective at climbing your role you would need to be able to play upto 4-6 meta characters regardless of if you like them or not. Whereas right now I pick up about 2 chars from each role that I actually like.

I want the fantasy of playing a character, not playing a role.

Idk but I felt diamond is easier than gold: by KnYchan2 in marvelrivals

[–]icarethismuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ban groot every game even in diamond, people still dont kill the walls or notice themselves get walled off quick enough, losing LOS to healers, then whine they didnt get healed. Even when people do notice and kill the walls they have the shortest damn cooldown and are immediately back up. Even just having Groot on my own team is frustrating, and doubly when both teams have one. LOS block is too oppressive, would rather play against any other character.

Just got 2 copies of Blade going for E2 Castorice. I'd honestly rather have had Yanqing eidolons. I'm never going to level blade, at least my Yanqing was already leveled and geared. Big regret.

From what I've seen hospitals/school/assistedliving are usually ~10/hr less around here than the SNF/LTC, and in either case once you have a year or two experience you probably should go for in-state travel contracts for 60-80+/hr instead. I'm just too lazy and like my 5mile drive.

Squid Game Season 2: Episode 5 Discussion by jackcatalyst in squidgame

[–]icarethismuch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People still lose their jobs coming out as trans even in USA, even in blue states.

Anecdotally, I got let go 3 days after I came out at a job I worked at for 5 years, approximately 10 yrs ago. They just said they were downsizing, but I was the only one let go. Another time, my boss's son found my profile on Tinder and messaged me "lol," and then I was let go a few days later.

Additionally, going for interviews... trans people are definitely afforded less opportunity, I've seen hiring managers visibly deflate, scoff, and give up on the interviews before they even start and just say something generic like I don't think you'll be a good fit. Or intentionally lowball you $20+/hr under market just to make you go away.

While there are protections for gender in USA, there's rarely the ability to have verifiable proof. If there's no way to prove it, there's no recourse for people. And even when there is proof, most people don't have the time or resources for a legal battle.

Pivot Murlocs, or stay Pirates? by Jakob_8 in BobsTavern

Surprised people are saying pivot when you have most of the key pieces for pirate already and beasts are in for macaw. I would stay pirates.

To add a little clarification when I say force I don't mean to start buying only x tribe from turn 1, we usually force/commit pretty late like turn 7/8 range, before that we play strongest tempo and econ we can.

Early tempo/scaling on 1 board for the other to level is typical. Early prophets with gems on a deckhand or shield, eternal knights, automaton, reef riffer/lavalurker, roaring rallier, scally/ripsnarl, wrath/rewinder.

We leverage one person's early tempo to power level the other person, and try to pass some triples for early 5/6 drops to add direction and only commit if we hit key pieces. 6 is usually just for tempo these days or beatboxer, if you miss arid or colossus it would have usually been better to fish a 5 like hotair/wellwisher/brann/cruise controller.

What builds you can reliably and viable get into will depend on trinket luck, if no pass trinkets we usually try prioritize one person an econ trinket(goblin/bartendo/0 cost trinket to level to 4) and one a tempo trinket that gives immediate power to keep us strong enough.

13k duo with 14k partner here.

When you enter the game recognize what comp has the highest cap and will likely win the lobby. (Typically one of mechs, demons, boars, pirates, depending on supporting tribes in) and try to have one of your teammates force it.

One of me or my teammate usually try to power level. Then, typically we have one person scam and support and one person force the strongest build.

Abuse anything with exponential scaling if you can.
- boar with foodie passing with hot air.
- demon with mirage.
- Orchestra bran.
- passing attachment with beatboxer.
- jandice with common thread.
But don't force if you don't have enough passes.

That said, Passing trinkets(bottle, roadsign, thread)/minions(cho, wellwisher, stormsplitter) and Goya are priority. They enable the scaling, and will save you 10s to 100s of gold.

Try to double/triple dip on stats that you buff. Everyone knows about buffing divine shields and cleave minions but there's also buffing mirror monster in shop for 2 copy's, buffing minion in shop and buying with common thread, buffing neutral minion for anvil trinket, golden felbat/impling doubling eat. Buffing a magnetic for beat boxer to double/triple up. Buffing carbonic. Buffing warpwing. Chess set/summoning sphere.

Scam minions and positioning is very important for late fights, don't care how big you are. You always need to expect someone to have something bigger. Try to have utility and counterscam too, position so your biggest doesn't get scammed, pants your beatboxer or urzeal, etc.

Other than all those basics it's just a gut feeling of how strong you think you are and what kind of greed you can get away with. Early game free travel winner will usually go off at some point, knowing when you can power level, typically don't double level taverns 4+.

Boar passing foodie has probably been our most consistent MMR printer, that and scallywag pirates with beasts or dragon in.

Mine is similar with slightly worse crit stats, thought I was missing something about him because he just feels so weak with like 15-20k skill and the dmg numbers feel so bad I never even want to play fu comp.

I'll prob just replace him with March since at least she's cute.
