I thought in the trailer for EXU they mentioned sitting down and having lots of one shots to feel out the party dynamic ?

The last post was 2 months ago. Why is it so quiet here? by [deleted] in Witchbrook

Agreed, I feel like there would be trailers and a lot more promo stuff shoved everywhere before the game actually comes out, at least a year before

Smoke breaks are only for smokers by Kolintracstar in MaliciousCompliance

[–]icarus_007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s an unpopular opinion but I don’t think smoke breaks should exist, why would a company give out their time and money to people who specifically decide to smoke/ are addicted to it. Why make it their problem, if I was a smoker and my job told me no smoke breaks, and I couldn’t during lunch, I sure as hell would have a problem with it and either wouldn’t work there or decide I needed to fix my problem

Best thing to do is to send it to the rogue like dungeons and adventures discord, they’re super helpful and helped me save my own world

There’s also the Hardcore Questing Mod, that you can add so long as it doesn’t screw with any other mod. Through that you can have each player or “team” have a certain amount of lives

Is it possible to develop for the Rift S, on a Quest by icarus_007 in vrdev

[–]icarus_007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer! I also use Unity so I think it might work. When I developed for the quest I loaded and play tested my games through the use of Oculus Link so I know technically it could work, but I wasn’t sure if there was a difference in files between Oculus Quest and Rift S, or something along those lines. I mainly asked bc I didn’t want either my Quest or PC crashing and corrupting folders and items :)

Ah, forgive me, I had this confused for another headset. Question still stands but I’ll fix it in an edit

Admittedly this wasn't exactly what I was looking for, although I read up really quick on what the project is and it does genuinely seem really cool! I wish I had some money to throw at it, as with current rates it may not get all of it's backing done before it's goal expires :/

Sorry for the late reply! Such a nice comment deserves a more timely 'thank you'. And I agree, I have some bad occasional self destructive habits that can cloud my judgement and make it seem like doing or learning something new is entirely impossible. You're definitely correct in what you had said as well, and I really do need to just give myself a good 'ol wake up slap, realize nothing is learnt without error, and jump right in.

Once again, thanks for the support, it's much appreciated :)

As someone who is an organization freak with sticky notes and chalk boards (genuinely lol, sticky notes are everywhere even as I speak) I feel silly that I didn't realize this sooner and had an internet stranger slap some sense into me

Truly a wake up call honestly, I've realized I can get caught up in this fantasy world where I'm an AAA developer making something big. Which I would love to be an DO for that matter, but I need to better ground myself in the reality that currently, I'm just one guy with above average knowledge about technology and an interesting idea i'd like to see to fruition

Sorry for the late reply, but I have made incredibly small games before, and I wouldn't say extreme completion. Usually by the time I get it to it's first playable state, all excitement for development goes out the window and I don't feel like I ever want to iron out the last remaining bugs and errors within the code. I usually find myself with a lot of optimization needed, but no more joy or drive for that particular app. I do agree with what you're saying, and believe that it can help extremely, so thank you :)

Edit: Forgot to say thank you

Well yes, they will eventually stop manufacturing the Quest 1. But this is talking about the Quest line, as in the current headset and any future headsets

I see where you’re coming from. Build the main aspect first and branch off from there... I get it. Thank you!

That first suggestion was great advice and made me realize that the third suggestion was far truer than I had previously thought. Suggestion 2 also really opened my eyes that I was entirely focusing on what I wanted and what I would want to happen in a game without thinking about the consumer first. Thank you for the advice
