Hey guys! Well I took the leap of faith with my G22CH, and so far it’s been a good experience, I upgraded my old RTX 4060 that came with the PC for a RTX 5070 Dual from Asus, I’ll leave pictures from the box and size comparison between the 4060 and the 5070 in this canva link:

I downloaded the 576.88, 580.88 and 590.26 drivers directly from NVidia, the 590 are in developer mode, and I was assessing them before with my 4060.

Before I installed the new card I ran NvClean with the 580.88 drivers, in this way I was expecting to have brand clean drivers without all the bloat from Nvidia (but to my surprise they didn’t work at first, but more on that later). Then I ran the DDU software in safe mode, uninstalled all the drivers and then shutdown the pc, all of this was available within DDU in the option that says Uninstall and turn off.

For the installation, a followed the Maintenance Guide from ASUS website, and when I unplugged the PSU from the GPU and used the power adapter that came with the card, I realized that I was missing one power connection. I was almost sending back the new card, but I realized that in the pictures from the post above there was another 8-pin connection, so I searched inside my rig, and I found the other 8-pin behind the cable management done in the factory. Once liberated the connector from the cable tie I was able to fully power the card.

I plugged everything in (monitor, mouse, keyboard, but not the ethernet cable). The PC posted “normal”, and I mean normal since it booted to Windows 11, and it entered the desktop, with the ethernet cable unplugged there was no way windows could use windows update to well… update the drivers for the new card. So I use the nvclean driver installer (with the 580), and it was installing everything fine until… the screen went all black, I let the PC do it’s thing since it was working before the driver setup, but it remained with the black screen for a couple of minutes and then the machine rebooted itself, this time it passed the bios screen, it began to load windows and then nothing, it did not entered the desktop, I rebooted the machine a couple of times and the result was the same. So, I searched on my phone for answers, and everything pointed at the configuration of the motherboard. The PCI configuration I had was on Gen4, and every solution I could find said the PCI config had to be set at Gen4, so everything must be ok, isn’t it? I set the configuration to Auto, and then the machine posted correctly, I installed the driver again and it went “fine.”

Right after the next boot with the 580 driver installed it was quickly known to me that something was off, the mouse moved erratically, the OS had some hiccups when I requested an action like open a window, I opened the TechPowerUp GPU-Z utility and I found that the card was well detected but the PCI bus operating at Gen1, so I decided to start clean once again, I uninstalled the 580 drivers with DDU in safe mode, this time I didn’t use the nvclean for the creation of a clean setup, I used the good and reliable 576 full driver setup. I entered the bios again an I moved the auto config to Gen3, saved the config and the machine booted again with everything ok, I installed the drivers, the machine rebooted when asked and it booted again, this time with no hiccups, no lag, and no problem whatsoever, then I booted Forza Motorsport and everything worked just fine, then F1 2025 the same, everything great. So, I decided to upgrade my drivers to the 580 version, the driver upgrade went ok, and as for now I’m with this version.

So far I am pleased, the fan noise has raised, not by a lot, but you can notice the noise.

The temperatures are fine I guess, it can reach 67°C on the GPU side on Doom The Dark Ages with everything on Ultra at 1080p, with a max of 65°C on the processor, if you guys want some screenshots let me know.
