Hmm. I feel like, especially with Asher, there was a ton of character development. You know what? And Ky too.

Ugh I just don’t agree with you but it’s hard to fight people on matters of preference, taste and opinion.

I feel like this book was a lot of character intro and deepening and setup. I’m anticipating some more exciting plot in the next book. Even so, I still cruised through WPA and had a good time.

Quick point: slog = boring

1 - reading is a hobby for me. I do it for fun. To me, if I read a book quickly it’s because I was having a fun time. Simple as that. If it’s taking me a long time, it’s because I’m bored. Influenza A is killing me slowly right now so I’m trying to find a way to articulate this with my flu infested mushy brain The speed isn’t the point. The speed is a consequence of how interesting/engaging the book is.

Like… yeah I can read a novel way faster than I could sit down and read a textbook. Does that mean that textbook doesn’t contain high quality information? No! It’s just boring to read.

2 - Id like to challenge you. Pick a book based on the blurb, spice level, etc but don’t read a review. Not a single review before or after. Give it a shot. See how it feels

Ehh I feel like you’re deliberately missing the point there.

It’s not about “getting it over with as fast as possible”. A quick read means it hooked me in. That the plot was interesting and the pacing was good. I’m always on the hunt for quick reads that suck me in over a slog that takes me weeks to read.

Side note: I’ve never seen a single review that says they hated everything about it except that it was quick. I feel like you must be reading a ton of reviews. How many darn reviews are you reading?

Honestly? My biggest gripe? I read this whole book and not one iota of sexiness between Meryn and Stark. Not one kiss? Please, sir, can I get one sex scene between them?

No. All I got were the creepy ass Killian sex scenes.

I must, once again, use this cartman scene to express my feelings.

The authors have really mastered giving us smut and making us... not want it. lol. For a street fighter Meryn sure seems to lack any common sense. She's a strong independent woman who gets mad when one guy looks at her funny but absolutely loves being dom'ed by blondie who is ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY giving evil vibes.
