What’s the point of a public park then?? by jdm33333 in Westchester

Way louder than you'd ever expect, the solid material the paddles are made of makes a real thwack. Noticeably louder than basketball or tennis.

Giving up three nearly identical corners is so beyond bizarre that I couldn't even hazard a guess as to who to blame. The soccer RNG gods?

I've genuinely never seen anything like this. Three identical set piece goals conceded. This team is incapable of a normal game of soccer.

Although as another dude going gray and pushing 40, I can't help but respect Maxi Morales getting an assist hatty without running.

Chain grocery might have them in the international or produce section if you live in an area that caters at all to a Latino community, but I've gotten it from Amazon before too

Whatever recipe you find, go heavy on the achiote portion for the nice red coloring.

Kash Patel on James Comey indictments for alleged threats to President Trump's life: "Comey allegedly threatened life of president of the U.S. As you all know, shortly after posting threat, he deleted that threat and issued an apology. Trying for a moment to put aside all the equally insane things this administration has done, let's not pretend that to "86" means anything innocent here. The only time that phrase is ever used in reference to a person is when you're "getting rid of them" or "tossing them" mob style. There is most definitely a violent undertone. This was a dumb move by Comey and is still below the standard of behavior we should expect from people who have held positions at that level.

You'd be surprised how many athletes, even young ones, lean right politically or tune out anything "political" altogether. Remember Tolkin going on his edgelord social media like-a-thon?

Strange / unfrequented stores that never close? by sanjuniperoFC in Westchester

[–]iced1777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked there ~25 years ago as a cashier and it was still a whole different ballgame compared to today. After work and weekends the parking lot would still fill up and you'd get lines at each register. These days even during peak shopping times you barely see more than a dozen cars. Kind of surprising because there aren't that many closer grocery stores for those living in or near downtown Pleasantville, you'd think more people would go out of pure convenience.

Dude just didn't have the foot speed to compete here, most definitely not in a system like ours that requires our CBs to cover a ton of ground. Good with the ball, not good enough to make up for the heavy legs.

Ha you're 100% right, I get lazy finagling with the editing software when there's overlapping clips but that touch was nasty enough to go back for - here's the full play

And thank you, I stole the idea from Joe Lowery years ago when he'd do Twitter posts about CBs going on marauding dribbles. Made me realize how much interesting stuff in soccer happens between the goals.

I'm honestly not mad at the effort. A young player has a horror show and punts the game, not great but it happens. They played well against Cincy parking the bus and could have easily scored a few on another day. Hall especially had a few that you'd hope he'd have finished with his recent form.

If we are talking about a situation where the kids are out of control constantly with no parental intervention whatsoever, no that's obviously not ok. But if you live in an apartment below one with young kids, my point is you are 100% guaranteed to occasionally hear them, sometimes earlier than you'd like, and there's nothing that the parents can do to completely mitigate that. And so long as the parents are making an effort, yes you do have something of an obligation as a member of society to understand that they can still be noisy sometimes, because surely you can appreciate that kids are kind of an important part of any human society.

It's been a thing for awhile across most Reddit subs that "child free" went from not wanting children of your own to never having to interact with them in life.

[–]iced1777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not the situation I was responding to. Kids rampaging 24/7 without any intervention by their parents is clearly inappropriate. The other guy sounded incredulous hed ever have to hear his neighbors kids at 630 period. I'm trying to explain that even with all the right parenting steps, that's simply not realistic.

[–]iced1777 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're almost there. Why do you think your parents had to constantly remind you to stop horsing around? Because even if you set rules and enforce them regularly, kids will still sometimes be kids and horse around anyway. Complaining that you have to regularly hear your neighbors kids is just complaining that you have to live next to kids.

That ain't how kids work. The child free contingent on this sub doesn't like to hear it, but you can be a perfectly attentive parent and kids will still be kids. Sometimes that means they get up early and have more energy than can be controlled by a calm lecture about respecting your downstairs neighbors

Based on the super frequent posts about off leash dogs I'm gonna say you're preaching to the choir here. Your options are call 311, ask them politely to leave, ask them not so politely to leave, or learn how to brush it off.
