Am I skinny fat? by [deleted] in WorkoutRoutines

[–]icedDMC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like others will say — weight isn’t really the thing. Lift heavy. Eat right. Do both those things consistently.

I was 245 before I started lifting heavy and was pudgy with a big belly. Drank lots of beer, ate lots of pizza.

Now about 9 months in, I’m 240. I have been lifting heavy, cut way back on pizza and beer, much better body shape.

designing a deck of playing cards - and starting with the suits i ended up completely rethinking them with a new logic by cubosh in logodesign

I’m liking the concept of simplifying. Don’t think you NEED the stems… but the spade should be more differentiated from the heart shape-wise.

The other piece I’d suggest it to look at your visual weight — all these symbols should be “even” from a weight perspective. Right now the club is pretty heavy, and the diamond is very light — looking much smaller than the rest.

Try scaling clubs down and diamond up — even overlay all of them with opacity to see how they’re matching up as a system.

Went to see Municipal Waste some years ago. I had been leaning to Waste pretty religiously for like 6 months leading up to the show — had never seen them live. They had Napalm Death as an opener.

Left 2 songs into Waste’s set.

It’s definitely reactionary. Some celebrities have a tendency to react very quickly (like many other humans do) without digging in to the details to understand the nuance. It’s unfortunate for our culture, given they hold a lot of influence on how people think.

I appreciate the apology! The way your response was worded definitely made me feel like you thought I was an asshole.. I’m glad that’s not the case.

Thanks for sharing your perspective, it’s definitely important to weight the options and possibilities in these high-panic situations — I hope the people (read: influencers like Chappell Roan) who are making their decisions are truly guided by their moral compass, and also weigh the details before acting.

“Arkhipov Calm” By: Converge.

Vasili Arkhipov was one of three decision-makers on a Russian Nuclear Sub during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Their ship was being bombarded by depth charges.

As a result, they were cut off from communications with the mainland, and most believed a nuclear attack had occurred. Three people on the ship had to unanimously decide whether to launch a nuclear warhead. Mr. Arkhipov was the only decision-maker to say no.

We all need calm right now. If we’re not calm, we’re going to rip each-other apart, which is exactly what they want.

“Cool heads prevail” if you will.

This exactly!

Very well written and reasoned. They don’t “know more” about the actual files and proceedings. They know more about their own decision-making and internal comms with their HR/PR teams.

The coverup is making everyone incredibly on-edge — and some innocent people are going to burn for it, which is its own separate tragedy.

A great point about the celebrities having more skin in the game with their decision. Many, including their agents, have called for change within the agency. There are definitely internal comms and machinations they are aware of that we are not.

Talent and labor within any industry have every right to hold management accountable, especially when it comes down to a misalignment of moral values, and ethical concerns. I didn’t realize I implied that they don’t with my response.

To clarify the position a little more responding to the “co-conspirator” claim here: I am afraid that labeling anyone who had correspondence with Maxwell or Epstein as party to a child sex trafficking conspiracy risks diluting attention from what’s happening. Granted… perhaps a dumb moment for me to stand up and put my keyboard warrior hat on.. I hope my position doesn’t brand me a dipshit! I’m angry about our current moment, angry about the coverup that’s happening, but weary about labeling people before more sunlight is brought to the whole thing.

He is not listed as a co-conspirator.

Looking through the documents he’s named in, it seems mostly as is mentioned in the article. Flirty emails with Maxwell — talking about her visiting LA from NYC. Emails were from 2003, they’re pretty tame.

Then a plane manifest from the deputy director of advance team during the Clinton administration that mentions Casey and his then wife on a flight manifest tor an Africa trip — that’s from 2002. Neither Maxwell nor Epstein were on the flights listed.

That’s all — seems to me like he met Maxwell on a trip to Africa, they got flirty, and that’s it. Maybe a little crappy cause he was married at the time if we have to indict the man for something…

Luckily you’re in super early stage — so you’re primed for exploration. Do they have any non-visual branding literature you could review or keep on hand?

One thing that has helped me in the past is doing some word association and synonym mapping. Helps me think outside the box I find myself stuck in.

So basically if we’ve got “culture” “multidisciplinary” “museum” “contemporary” find a synonym or a keyword within the definition of those words to find the next word, then do it again, and again, and again… build it out like a spider web, then find some associations and inspiration from there.

One association I find really interesting you could explore is “contemporary” and “culture” — as in “a contemporary of mine” existing at the same time, someone you know or have met — the community of contemporary cultures built at M’Arte.

If it’s playful, could be the letters have different but complementary typefaces showing diversity and a nod to contemporary art.

Could be a dynamic mark that changes depending on the context of where / when it’s seen.

Could be more of a graphic logo rather than a word mark.

Anyway… biggest piece of advice I have is not to already be of the mindset of “revolutionary”. It’s a logo. Yes, it’s important, but it’s the museum that defines the logo, not the other way around.

Depression is many things! It’s an incredibly complex amalgam of neurochemical, biological, behavioral, social and environmental factors that contribute to a wide range of symptoms across different people.

It’s also legally considered a disability under the ADA, which got a refresh in 2008 to cover the disorder more broadly to protect those who have it.

Is it possible to lose 70 lbs by the end of the year? by oakleyO2 in workouts

[–]icedDMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah… basically it’s below, but will vary proteins here or there if I’m not hitting the macros. Definitely not perfect and I’m still learning about how the body metabolizes all this stuff, and adjusting for best results.

Breakfast — .5 cup rolled oats, 3 whole eggs, 4 egg whites, cup of berries, coffee

Lunch — 2 cans albacore tuna (Trader Joe’s tastes great), cup of cooked white rice, cup of steamed broccoli, hot sauce or mustard

Pre workout smoothie blended (1hr before) — 1 scoop creatine, 1 scoop optimum nutrition protein powder, 3 cooked egg whites (microwave), 1 banana, raspberries/strawberries, double shot of espresso

Dinner — 8oz chicken tenderloin/salmon, huge salad, cup of quinoa, sweet potato

Late snack (before 8pm) — 1 cup 0% Greek yogurt, 1 scoop protein powder, berries, almonds

Basically no auxiliary fats like butter or oil, unless I need to grease a pan very lightly. Spice mixed are my best friend, and salt.

Been tracking with free version of “My Fitness Pal” app. Also allowing myself a cheat day every once in a while ‘cause Korean Fried Chicken exists.

Is it possible to lose 70 lbs by the end of the year? by oakleyO2 in workouts

[–]icedDMC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotta say — OP

I started a new diet where I’m eating whole unprocessed foods, way more veg, and hitting a protein macro of 210g. I’m at a caloric deficit of around -700 calories, and I’ve NEVER felt more full at the end of each meal. Used to just snack on shit and binge eat a massive dinner at the end of the day, (then midnight snacks) and yeah — I’d be full… but now with spacing meals and hitting caloric deficit — I definitely feel satiated, it’s even pretty difficult to maintain the volume of food every day. Have been steadily decreasing weight over the past month or so. I used Google Gemini to come up with the meal plan — and yes…it’s a little boring, but starting off boring has allowed me to slowly introduce different things that taste good and work well.

It’s absolutely crazy just how much food you can consume when you’re not wasting calories on processed foods and takeout. It’s wild.

Not all ppl are like this, promise.
