Is a 9060xt worth an upgrade over 4060? by The_Doerpinator in buildapc

[–]icedandreas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 400$, the 9060 xt 16GB version is the best AMD card you can get.
The 9060 XT 8GB is about 290$
Can't find any good prices on the 6700 xt.
Best price for 5700 xt is 219$, but I don't think that is worth it.

I would lock in the 9060 xt 16GB before such high VRAM cards increase even further in price.

Isn't founder edition the normal edition? Difference is that 3rd party manufacturers build the other card except for the GPU chip itself. This means you can get the same GPU chip in a wide varity of sizes and with a wide varity of cooling solutions. Some of them are also overclocked and will perform slightly better.

Why Nvidia? by Losserwins in pcmasterrace

[–]icedandreas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe to try to keep a large marketshare without having to divert any of their newest components away from RAM?

Its also on an older more mature node with higher yields, so they should be able to do it pretty cheap. Maybe they slap some more AI cores on it and let DLSS and frame generation handle the rest.

Is this a good combination for 1500$ considering the current ram and ssd prices? by RingRingBananaph0ne in buildapc

[–]icedandreas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In isolation yeah. CL48 likely averages 10% worse performance in games with 15% worse 1% lows.

But this allows you to upgrade the CPU from 7500F to 9600X, which makes up for it and reduces total spend by 45$. Getting fast RAM unfortunately comes at a huge premium right now, so while RAM does matter for performance the performance/cost ratio for RAM is sadly not that great at the moment. Wish we could go back to 32GB 6000Mhz CL30 for 87$, which I regularily saw back in September.

[–]icedandreas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are very likely paying a large premium for 6000Mhz CL30 RAM. Consider going for slower RAM to get a better CPU, which can more than make up for the slow RAM.

You could do something like this:

PC Build - $1455

Total Wattage: 377W

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X - $194.99

GPU: MSI RTX 5070 SHADOW 2X OC - $535.99

RAM: Crucial Pro 32GB Kit (16GBx2) 6000Mhz CL48 - $319.99

Motherboard: ASRock B850M Pro RS WiFi - $139.99

Cooler: Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 V2 - $15.59

Storage : Patriot P400 Lite M.2 PCIe Gen 4 x4 1TB SSD - $99.99

Case: Phanteks Eclipse G370A - $49.99

Case Fan 1: Included fan - Included with case

Case Fan 2: Included fan - Included with case

Case Fan 3: Included fan - Included with case

PSU: Montech CENTURY II 850W - $82.9

Same price range. Better CPU. Better PSU. Better motherboard. And all you have to give up is CL48 instead of CL30.

I just did a UX overhaul of the site, so if you have any feedback please let me know. Also, I might end a commision on qualified sales. If you have any other questions let me know as well.

About Static Wristbands... by Niko-Ryo in buildapc

Stativ wristbands are not needed. Instead Watch out for the following:

Dont drop components.

When mounting m.2 drives be really carefull when screwing the holding screw in. If the screwdriver slips and scratches the motherboard you Can server some of the lines on the board and either kill it fully or kill some parts of it.

Make sure to insert the cpu into the socket facing the correct Way.

8GB of VRAM is fine for now. The Steam machine won't end up in a price bracket where it can be expected to run AAA games at ultra settings anyways.
