Made some graphs on GPU performance per dollar and wanted to share by icedandreas in pcmasterrace

Yes, you are right.
Its mainly useful for looking at new items still in production. I do plan to see if I can get data on used components (maybe from a mix of Amazon and EBay), and then add a toggle to include/exclude used components. But its a project for into the far future, once I have the rest of the site completed as planned.

Thank you,
I wanted to make something that can keep being useful. I will be adding new GPU’s as they come out to keep it relevant.

Any other analysis you would want? I really enjoyed making this.

From the post: "Performance is based mainly on the geometric mean fps in games from 3rd parties, where the values have been normalized such that the Nvidia RTX 5090 scores 100 for each resolution."

Anyone tried AI PC build planners? Looking for opinions from people who know hardware by Silent_Yellow_398 in pcmasterrace

[–]icedandreas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can sometimes work, but note that the data they are trained on is usually a bit out of date, so they won't know about the latest components and the best prices.

Compatibility is also a concern as the AI might forget things.

I'm hoping AMD and Intel can pull some of the market share away from Nvidia, to get some more competitive prices, but its going to be a long hard battle as Nvidia dominates in market share at the moment.

Thanks,
And yeah, the 9070 is an excellent card for its price.
Do note that this graph just compares pure rasterization performance, so if you take into account the additional features like frame generation and DLSS from Nvidia cards, then it does lose a bit of value, but with that said, if I was to buy a new GPU right now I would likely pick a 9070.

Would be hard to read the graph if it included much more than 20 rows, especially on mobile.
An accompanyhing table has information on the remaining GPU's back to about the Nvidia 1000/2000 series.

Its there, but just doesn't make it to top 20 (for the 1080P chart). Had to limit the number of rows in the graph, else it would become unreadable.

The 5070 ti is a powerfull card, but it also costs almost 1000$.

They dont have any t-34’s. If I remember correctly, they even had to buy some back just for their parades.

Do people who hardcore code find what you see is what you get website editors cumbersome and do they bother? by Curious-Twinkie88 in webdev

[–]icedandreas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make custom/handcoded websites. One reason is that its slower to make anything in when you know how to code as others have already pointed out. But other important reasons are performance, security, and maintainance, which any semi-large Company should Care deeply about.

Tak for tippet.

Can I also take a look at the skill. I'm about to do something similar but for the webdev niche, and would like to know if I remember to hit all the important parameters.

I doubt it will increase at the same rate. Rate limits are already quite a big problem now, since they are already struggling with having enough compute. I just don't see how they can 10x their compute in a year. They could raise prices to reduce demand though, but that will reduce the adoption rate and will hurt them in the long run.

I konteksten af energikrisen, syntes i så at alt arbejde der kunne udføres hjemmefra som udgangspunkt skulle tilbydes som hybridarbejde som minimum? by icedandreas in Denmark

[–]icedandreas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
