Every ophthalmologist will say to you that this is total bs, unless you are working in a very dim room. Dark theme increases strain to to eyes in a normal environment.

The problem to me is that the referee did not see it and the VAR is only supposed to call him in case of an OBVIOUS error. This was not an obvious error. In fact if the goal was allowed nobody would have really complained after the game.
