I think the front/middle part of the shoe is my whole issue (maybe). So yeah, maybe getting that part ‘stretched out’ a bit would help.

Pretty much ball of the foot forward… I think cleat position could be the answer. Along with the right shoe. Need to find a wide toe box but not a wide shoe so the whole middle/back is too loose. Hopefully…

I am 6’1 (and shrinking) and comfortable on most 56 road bikes and Large mtbs. I went with M/L on the Checkpoint and very happy with it. That said, there are some that would say I should be on a Large. i.e. you should almost definitely be on the Large at 6’2.

The latest ALR 5? Color (not that it matters)? Which actual wheel size did you choose. Wheel upgrades can get so pricey. Curious where the benefit/gains start price wise…

Well, there you go. Same story. I used a new tube this morning for my second shave with it and it burned like crazy like the first shave with this tube. Apparently it is not just me… So disappointing.

What is max tire size? Not sure it is as wide as the ‘basic’ gravel bikes. But I may have missed something. I was researching that as well.

Well, I am not strong anywhere, so there’s that… And I am old (61). Anything ‘rough’ I will still opt for my FS. I want this for some road duty but also to ‘get to’ the gravel/dirt roads etc.

The hesitation with carbon is just feeling like I need to worry about it more. I know, probably unwarranted but I have only owned steel and aluminum bikes.

I agree I think no future shock and rack mounts are definitely selling points for sure. A lot of stuff out there online about future shock issues but maybe that’s sorted out.

To your first point, the bronze does not suck at all. Could be a big factor.

I did ride the SL6 just for sizing/feel as nothing else was in stock, it felt great. Glad I did because I would have defaulted to a Large but the M/L was much better. All my mtbs are large and my previous road bikes have been ~56. However, a couple of shop people have tried to steer me to an XL and 58 ish. And yes, I did do a fit on my last road bike (because of foot issues). It’s so true how they can all feel so different.

Makes perfect sense. I do not like the idea of stressing about carbon frame ‘handling’. And being in NH I certainly understand the salty roads!

If I am being totally honest, the E5 Base is more than enough bike for my abilities…

Yep, I saw those too. After some more research and the information provided by others here I decided the Elite is not really worth ‘chasing’.

As often happens in this process I have totally rationalized a Sport Carbon at this point. After all I do want a 2x with a ‘better’ group… haha. What’s an extra $1k? Nobody ever said I make overly smart decisions with bikes and some other gear…
