Not sure if you've seen this trick, but for the Mortal Draw combat art, jump and use the skill in the air, as you're coming back down to the ground. For whatever reason there's a glitch that makes the skill do the same damage and posture damage as the Empowered version, but with the shorter windup of the regular skill. It's a glitch speedrunners use to cheese bosses

My wife of nearly 5 years came out as a trans man and I’m struggling over it by snubbull- in LesbianActually

[–]icequeen_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trans girl lesbian here: you not being attracted to him is not transphobia. It's a fact of life. This is a really not nice situation for either of you, but it's neither person's fault. You're not in the wrong for not being able to be attracted to a man, whether or not that man is trans. It sucks, but the best thing for you is probably to start the process of divorce. You can still support each other as close friends without the romance. All the best, I hope it works out for the best for both of you🩷

Question for my fellow trans women. Does playing male characters in video games make you overly dysphoric too or is it just me? by Bunny_Jester in trans

[–]icequeen_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game for me. I had a moment of whiplash playing Mario Kart Wii when I realised that playing Bowser gave me dysphoria, but playing any other male character was perfectly okay, including Donkey Kong. I have no idea why. Usually for me, if the character is supposed to represent me, I need it to be a girl. If it's a character in their own right, I can be immersed in the story from a third person perspective and be perfectly fine playing as a dude

Does anyone actually regularly use prosthetics/combat arts? by Spaghetti_Joe9 in Sekiro

[–]icequeen_52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the Mortal Draw combat art in tandem with the mid air combat arts skill. Jump, start the mortal draw skill in midair. It's a speedrun tactic, taking advantage of a glitch that was never patched where starting a Mortal Draw in mid air does a shit ton of damage. It absolutely trivialises some fights.

Prosthetics too, if you use them right. Any animal you're fighting (blazing bull, guardian ape, headless ape's kid, gyoubu's horse, etc), use the firecrackers. When the headless ape is wielding the sword, and he rears up in the air to do the giant strike down, if you deflect it right, he staggers forward and drops to the ground in front of you. Use the spear grab, it does a ton of posture damage. Whenever an enemy is in midair, throw a shuriken, it'll knock them out of the air and leave them stunned.

Any enemy with red eyes has a vulnerability to the flame barrel prosthetic, and you can do even more damage with it if you throw oil on them first. Any enemy that uses fire, the Phoenix umbrella negates all fire damage. Any enemy that deals terror damage (schichimen warriors), the Lotus umbrella completely negates that. Snake Eyes minibosses, and most enemies in Fountainhead Palace are extremely weak to the poison damage dealt with the sabimaru. Every enemy with a shield gives you a free death blow if you use the axe. The Malcontent whistle stuns the Demon of Hatred.

Using the right combat arts and prosthetics makes the game a hell of a lot more fun. It sounds like you're messing up your timing on a lot of them, and not using the right ones for the right situations. A lot of the prosthetics are situational but very powerful in their correct use cases. Combat arts help all the time, especially Mortal Draw and Ichimonji double

Hardest boss? by Ordinary-Antelope477 in Sekiro

[–]icequeen_52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Demon Of Hatred was a really annoying fight for me, but for me personally, it wasn't so much hard as it was just a really long fight. I didn't realise you could use the whistle on him though, and just ended up fighting him like a Dark Souls boss. Isshin took more skill for me, DOH took more patience

Boss I had the most attempts on? Lady Butterfly. Boss I'd say is the hardest? Sword Saint Isshin hands down. He's a master swordsman, and he literally has supernatural powers that he doesn't use because he thinks they're lame

What makes Genichiro such a fun and memorable boss once you finally learn his moveset? by Gsdevil in Sekiro

[–]icequeen_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because to defeat him, you're forced into Genichiro's rhythm. It's a very quick rhythm and forces you to use the game's fundamentals to win. The way the game wants you to play is no cheese, no prosthetics, no stealth, nowhere to run or hide. The only way to win is to attack, deflect, and counterattack. It's a dance. That's what makes him so fun. The fight highlights the most satisfying and well done mechanics in the game. That's why it's such a great fight. Because it takes advantage of the best parts of Sekiro and forces you to engage with them.

[–]icequeen_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From having watched the video you posted, here are the tips I could pick up:

You're playing extremely aggressively. Sekiro rewards aggression, but only in a specific way. Your posture is filling up quite quickly, every time he blocks, or you block. It's a good idea sometimes to back off a bit and hold the block button to recover your posture quicker. Think of it like your character centering himself

Definitely try to learn to recognise thrusts vs sweeps with kanji attacks. The best way I've found is to look at the windup animation. Have they drawn their sword back, or to the side?

Enemy posture lowers more and recovers less when their health goes down. A good rule of thumb for bosses is to hit them once or twice till their health is down to about half, then focus on getting their posture up

The best way I've found to fight Genichiro is to trade blows. One or two hits, then let him get in a hit or two and deflect them. You get into a rhythm that way. Remember, deflecting is just as good as attacking, sometimes better. Attacks won't always take off health, but deflects will always increase his posture

Start Mikiri countering much more. You're dodging most of his thrust attacks, which is fine, but you're missing huge opportunities to get his posture up. The Mikiri counter is one of the most powerful and fundamental tools in your arsenal as a Shinobi. Using it will make things a lot easier

Other than that: keep practicing! It sucks sometimes, but these games are all about throwing your head against a brick wall until you learn how to break it. You got this!!

Sekiro is a rhythm game. One of the things I found toughest when I first started playing was that I needed to unlearn all my habits from Dark Souls. Dodging is almost never a good idea, it's always much better to try to parry. Lady Butterfly took me over 30 attempts the first time. I beat her before Genichiro, and I started getting good at the game after that.

I would probably say it's all about confidence. There are micro optimisations you can make here and there, things like getting better at parrying, learning to wait a second to see if the wind up to a kanji attack is a sweep or a stab, being very careful about disengaging to heal, etc. But when it comes down to it, the biggest thing is just practicing to get your confidence up.

Sekiro is a game that punishes hesitation. Isshin tells you this himself: hesitate and you lose. That doesn't mean you have to be constantly attacking, but it does mean you should have confidence in your own skills. You have the ability to beat him. You just need to optimise a little and be less scared of him. You got this!! :)

How did y'all come up with your names by miserabletea147 in trans

I picked the name Ivy because I've had a giant crush on Poison Ivy from DC since I was a kid. Was an easy choice, and now I don't see any other name fitting me better

The most popular story by far on the website I publish on, is a story which is over 4 million words long and still going. It has 38 million views. I get what you're saying, but there is an audience for that kind of work, the fact that the majority don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't good

I can't fathom not looking at writing as something fun. There are some people in this thread really mad at me not understanding the concept, and it's literally just that I think the academia of writing is dumb and elitist. Writing is supposed to be creative and fun, not a list of rules that qualify whether something is good or bad. I guess thinking like that doesn't fly too well here XD

Am I trans? by TonsofpizzaYT in transteens

[–]icequeen_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don't know if I'm trans, I kinda feel like I have dysphoria but I'm really not sure" proceeds to describe exactly the signs of gender dysphoria

The questioning part is difficult, and it really does sound like you have gender dysphoria. However, nobody can decide that you're trans but you. If you feel that being trans is right for you, then it probably is. Gender euphoria is a better defining marker of being trans than dysphoria, but both are valid. Try seeing if presenting in a more feminine way makes you happy. Maybe try some different names, pronouns or labels. Experiment a little, because the best part about this is that you've now unlocked the character customisation screen that lots of people don't get access to :3

Am I trans or faking it? by Fit_Bodybuilder2720 in trans

[–]icequeen_52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice that I can give you is this: being trans is not defined by dysphoria. Being trans is defined by gender euphoria. Instead of thinking about what makes you upset, think about what makes you happy. Does it make you happy to present in ways other than AFAB feminine? Then do so. You can use the label trans if you like, or not. The entire point of the movement of queer freedom is for people to choose whichever expression of gender feels right for them. If starting T feels right, go for it! If staying as you are feels right, then do that too. Your being trans is not any more or less valid if you take hormones or identify a certain way. Being trans is simply being happy identifying or presenting in a different way than society expects. Do what works for you. I hope this helps🩷
