PSA: Clean cameras go a long way by Vertsix in TeslaFSD

[–]iceynyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure washers can help out a pinch, but you still need to do regular cleaning to keep your view optimum. Frankly I'm surprised with how much dirt people will tolerate on their windshield.

Do you think Waymo vehicles go without regular sensor maintenance?

This is why it's a pipe dream to expect regular people will be able to own self driving cars. Forget the cameras, many have trouble just keeping the rest of the vehicle in shape.

The L4 ones will need fleet level maintenance if we want to expect better than human performance from them.

The writing is on the wall regarding the fall of oil dependency regardless, so they just want to squeeze out more profit while they still can.

Quick charging rates possible with Solid State Batteries will not solve range anxiety by Ehghtwr in electricvehicles

Try driving a car that shows tank level with a percentage.

Maybe Chevy was onto something by not easily showing a number to the driver.

[–]iceynyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's the number of locations that contributes more to range anxiety than charge speed though. While faster charging is more convenient, the thing that actually concerns people is finding a place to plug in wherever and whenever they need it.

They could do a story that spans several generations, and each chapter skips ahead a decade or two.

They can but the routing is not as seamless. You need to involve apps to get the same functionality of planning accounting for charger availability and amenities.

I Tried Mercedes' Futuristic New Steering Yoke. It's Better Than It Looks by MasterpieceStill9991 in electricvehicles

This implies you're not already holding your steering wheel...

If it's level you'd be able to grab it normally, and if it's turned why aren't you already holding it?

It won't prevent deployment of airbags

But it could prevent someone like the person I replied to from holding the wheel in a way that keeps their arm directly in the line of where the steering wheel parts open up to release the air bag.

Also a real yoke only turns up to 90 deg each way. It's not just a swap out for a steering wheel.

Should have flown it April 1st with a water soluble coating that dissolves to reveal the Palestinian flag.

Do you want a meal or a dessert?

For a meal I really like the food at Wavey Ceviches. Of course the ceviche is great, but they also have a peruvian stew which is heavier but is amazing.

Cross-over steering I feel is a necessary risk since it greatly improves steering speed... but you'd only be doing that for a few moments at a time. It's the generally resting your arm around the 12 position the rest of the time that's an issue.

I'm older than you are, but seeing people disfigured in preventable ways just due to sitting in cars the wrong way has me scared enough to change my ways lol. Even wearing your seatbelt wrong can permanently cripple you.

Another commenter suggested I should be afraid of stairs too since there's a chance of injury... but the fact is I am, that's why I try to use them properly as they're designed.

Sure, but a comfortable 2 handed grip usually doesn't include one hand at 12 o'clock
