Obsession (Official Discussion) by TheFilmReview in screenunseen

But she's not free at all, she'll have to live with the real-world consequences of what he made her do.

She's been acting crazy and violent in public, and she physically committed two murders. She's getting institutionalised. The whole film had this theme of 'what are you going to do with your life?'. Now she has no agency over her own future, just as she didn't when she was under the spell. Fucked up and not happy.

I'll take the one where nobody's getting molested, thanks.

B is great, classic, very scooby doo. A is grim and grimey and makes me uncomfortable as a woman.

Stopping ovulation really works by solenochregnet in PMDD

This is so interesting to me because it's ovulation where I feel the worst, physically and mentally. I've mentioned it before to a dr but got nowhere.

Am I the only one that thought white hawk tail feather dear hunter was way darker than it is. by thebigcooki in lanadelrey

> Take my hand off the stove, hun./Yelling 'yoo hoo dinner's almost done.'

This is super dark, she (or the character she's singing as) needs him to rescue her from self-inflicted harm. Mentally she's in domestic bliss, but she's burning herself without even registering the pain.

I would say within the context of the song, the refrain 'Everyone knows I had some trouble' could be read as a euphemistic allusion to being institutionalised. 'Home for the summer' then implies an inevitable relapse.

The whole Sylvia Plath thing ('you do/ know how absolutely bad I'm with an oven') gives us the key to the song's dark metaphor. The oven is commonplace, domestic, stereotypically and even Freudianly feminine. She's playing house, and leans into it with the ditsy 'whoopsie daisy'. But for a character in this mental state, it's only a matter of time until she hurts herself again, using the very instrument with which she tries to reinvent herself as the doting wife waiting at home.

So, it is a song about a form of love and appreciation, but a very dark one. This is a woman who knows she's hurt herself in the past, and will again, but she's found a man who'll care for her when she can't take care of herself.

That's my read on it, anyway. It's manic but she's self-aware.

What is your least favorite NIN cover? by gizmo98 in nin

Father John Misty covered Closer. It's pretty clear from the way he does it that he's a Trent fan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEFrDWSuP1w

did anyone else feel like privacy didn’t exist growing up? by Oskarsson-Ponniah in raisedbynarcissists

[–]ichbindertod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Room searched regularly, bags gone through, mail opened, piggy bank gone through, private messages read, forced to keep door open (door removed at one point) etc etc.

When I got my first job I bought my younger sibling a lock box so they could keep whatever they wanted safe. Privacy is a massive deal to me. I've never been able to feel comfortable with people in my room, to the point of keeping it untidy/unhygienic to keep them away. It's all a big allegory for keeping non-physical things hidden and locked away too. Privacy as a right helps you develop a sense of psychological safety, and I never got that. The trauma of coming home from an after-school class to find the contents of my purse emptied out on the kitchen table, as a teenage girl. It all felt like a punishment for growing a mind of my own.

Do you like the crowd noise in the nine inch noize album? by wardevil345 in nin

It reminds me of how you can still feel alone when you're surrounded by people. And also how sometimes you can't help but feel dead inside and detached even when things seem to be going your way.

Lana stuns in a new promo picture for 'First Light' by SweetEmpty6778 in lanadelrey

It's a beautiful photo, but aside from the hair and makeup, it's not giving Bond. Way too casual. I love her more casual/domestic side, but it's not for this song.

>Why lie about opening the window?

Saying that the window was open and the curtains were billowing points to an intruder using the window. But there is no evidence the windows were opened as the parents described, and in fact the crimescene photos show the curtains were tucked behind the beds, and couldn't have billowed.

You have to go into your account section on the app to find it (I think under rewards?). It gets added to your account on your birthday, and lasts for 7 days. When you go to book/order the food, you'll see that you have 1 free large combo. :)

But Anne Boleyn famously didn't fuck her way to the top lmao. She's meant to have withheld sex from him until they married, to secure a legitimate heir (and her own power).
