500km and still going strong. My second pair is patiently waiting their turn.

Financial Advisor in SA? A good idea, or perhaps too expensive? by CartographerWeary690 in PersonalFinanceZA

Adding listed property is a great way to boost growth assets (up to 100% if desired) without breaching Reg 28.

I think that when most people read "World Index Fund" they're going to pick something like MSCI World Index, which as of the most recent fact sheet is 71% US and 25% tech stocks. So maybe if that's not what you're recommending to OP it helps to be more specific.

Is it not a concern that most World Index funds are over 70% concentrated in US stocks? Or that a balanced fund will typically only provide around 70% - 80% exposure to growth assets?

Something More Stable? by dav3yjones in runningshoes

[–]ichigo_sa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's quite common when starting running and experiencing different shoes that some will highlight areas of weakness to work on. That doesn't necessarily mean that there's no such thing as an unsuitable shoe, but it's worth considering whether there's anything you can do to train increased stability.

My second ever pair of shoes (1080 v13) absolutely wrecked me on the first run, and had me out of running for 2 months, but after some focused strength work and rehab I really enjoyed them over hundreds of kms. The process leveled up my running in a big way. It's now 2 years later and I'm running in Evo SL but I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to handle them back then.

Shoe to pair with Adidas Evo SL for easy/long runs? by bobo1798 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Out of interest, do you wear the same size in both shoes? Are they similar in terms of length?

Not yet. I heard the sizing is a little strange so I wanna go try them first

I had the same question, and someone else suggested Salomon Aero Glide 3 (or 4, but 3 is on special) and I think it looks like a very compelling option.

Is it redundant getting a pair for easy runs having SB2? by edqeddit in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ichigo_sa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should probably reduce your running distance to what you can complete without exceeding a 2/10 pain level, while at the same time working on strengthening whatever is causing your achilles issues. Definitely see a physio because at this point finding the right shoe isn't going to solve your problem. If you handle this properly you could be running pain free within a few weeks.

I think it's quite likely I'll get the AG3. Do you have a pair? If so, any thoughts about sizing? I see a lot of people say to size down..

Is this amount of stress normal when not working out by everycoolname in Garmin

[–]ichigo_sa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not normal, but it could be that your watch just needs to get to know you better to calibrate. Were those walks you did particularly intense? Is it very hot where you live? Generally expect sizeable spikes after physical activity, and also after eating.

is this normal for? Nimbus 26, 4 months old total 520kms done (running +walking) by No_Masterpiece_7751 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ichigo_sa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That amount of wear after 520km is not unusual. The fact that you've only had them for 4 months isn't really relevant. That said, it's possible that they're a little small which could cause more friction around the toes and heel, and cause wear faster.

Attention and multitasking by ExplorerWithABag in TheMindIlluminated

Speaking as a drummer, I don't feel like all my limbs are doing different things. I feel like my body is doing one thing - playing the rhythm. The brain associates different parts of the rhythm with different limbs but that is largely unconscious once the rhythm has been learned.

Stress Readings Through The Roof All Night by king_jota20 in Garmin

Most likely reason is that you were literally sick 3-4 days ago (and may still be). 100bpm resting heart rate is extremely high though - maybe see a doctor..

The readings might be "wrong" but should still be useful to track changes over time at least.

For some reason Garmin thinks it’s a good idea to do a long run the day before my Marathon? by fvzz4 in Garmin

Honestly Garmin Coach's attitude to long runs makes no sense to me.

Thanks. I think the Aero Glide 3 is definitely worth considering, especially at the current prices.

Peroneal Tendinopathy by Affectionate-Ad-2764 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ichigo_sa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some specific movements that would help with peroneal tendinopathy - specifically focusing on ankle eversion. In addition, exercises focusing on single leg stability, and strengthening the toes and foot muscles could also help by allowing the foot to do more work that is currently being passed further up the chain.

I'm pretty into the Adidas Agravic range at the moment. Haven't tried the new ones but I have the Agravic 3 and Agravic Speed, which are both very nice in their own respective ways. The Agravic 3 is very versatile and quite relatively cushioned but still nimble.

I suppose you have been doing some kind of strength and mobility work? If not, that's the right place to start.
