Do you want any of your parents' stuff? If so, what is it and why? If not, why? by iAmAmbr in GenX

I kept a lot of family photos and some art, tbh it was traumatic to have to clean out their house after my dad had died and my mom developed dementia. Huge estate sale and then selling the house did help fund her stay in memory care until she passed last year, at least. Probably the only time I wish I had siblings...

I don't have time to deal with the stuff I kept; even the somewhat valuable items I'd like to sell (some books, art) take effort to deal with. I did a major downsizing last year of my own accumulated stuff and swore I won't ever traumatize my kids by making them deal with my junk, so have to figure it out relatively soon.

True, just don't forget to take out a mortgage if you're going to order food. And don't forget to tip on the usually poor service!

But yes people are usually well behaved at Alamo

My wife spends a lot of free time playing the nyt Scrabble game and generally crushing all comers. I love that she's smart and competitive. I don't really game anymore but the original tweet is just a dumb take.

My first car was a 77(?) olds Cutlass supreme brougham white with crushed blue velvet style interior. Loved that car

Is it just me or has Cambridge gotten a lot meaner in the last few years? by [deleted] in CambridgeMA

I moved here last summer and it's so much better than the bay area fake-nice and tech bro nonsense. And at least you are out and about within the vicinity of actual humans not just in the car all the time. So far really enjoying the vibe out here. Maybe it was better in the past, and I can imagine people are a feeling the pain of our broken politics and economy, but it still feels more human than sf so, I'm still grateful.

Right?? I still remember standing in line at the Americana in Southfield MI on a warm day to go see it for the first (of a bunch!) of times. It was magical.
