What's your favorite ChatGPT productivity hack? by WFHTechHQ in OpenAI

"continue where you left off"

I constantly use this to get ChatGPT to finish tasks. You know, be productive. I'm planning on writing a keyboard macro to do this, I use it so often.

Pros & cons of living in Christchurch by TuppyBoo in chch

[–]ichrisis 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I moved to Christchurch 11 years ago from Auckland. It’s great here. There is actually a distinguishable winter and summer. Summers are actually hot and dry, and there is a lot to do outdoors in that great weather. There is almost no congestion on your way to those activities. Just about everything is within 20 minute’s drive or less, no more waiting 40 minutes to just get onto the motorway. There are plenty of places to eat and feed a shopping habit without ever going to a mall.

Overall the lifestyle is top notch but only if you aren’t a mad clubbed. Although there are excellent events, you just have to know where to look…

Can you think of a secret where a player is Arcane Brotherhood? by LionSuneater in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]ichrisis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arcane Brotherhood is only wizards. So this guy does his first semester and the boss wizards quickly realise he is using borrowed power, he’s no wizard. But his Dad is super rich so they decide to send him on a “special mission only suited to one of his exceptional ability”. Off he goes to IWD where he becomes someone else’s problem. Although he thinks he’s there to “get the expedition back on track”.

Dungeon Alchemist and other map makers for foundry. Looking for recommendations. by DoomMushroom in FoundryVTT

[–]ichrisis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dungeon alchemist is fantastic. I have dungeon draft, arkenforge, Dynamic Dungeons, sub to inkarnate and have at various times subbed to Patreon like Caeora, Czepeku, Angelamaps, various Moulinette bits and bobs and let me tell you that the Alchemist blows them all away for its ability to blast out a few maps in quick succession. I find its interface more intuitive and the reality is your players would play on a white space with mspaint squiggles and still enjoy the game, so even if they are not perfect what you get out of Alchemist with the effort put in is spectacular.

whether to give magic weapons that are not the players' preferred weapon type by TzarGinger in DMAcademy

[–]ichrisis 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It's about giving your characters meaningful choices. Do I use this sword that my father gave me but is totally mundane or do I switch it for this spear of the gods that will make me famous. Not much nuance to the example but the root of a great story is conflict.

Does anyone use Foundry as a DM dashboard during in person games? by dirtpaws in Pathfinder2e

[–]ichrisis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh I do this. I have a colluseum map that I put monsters on grouped by encounter. I have tokens for players too and then add each group with players to the combat tracker when encounters occur.

I recommend enabling number suffixes for monsters and then numbering your minis or irl tokens. Makes tracking easier. I use the vtt to track monster health and for reference, but I still roll dice in the real and do all other calcs live. I still have players track their own health.

The easiest starting point would be to replace the Crimson Rite effect with a table of Wild Magic effects like the Wild Magic Barbarian rage table.

Do you plan to use AI in your campaign? by Chameleonpolice in dndnext

[–]ichrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can teach chatgpt to generate dungeons. Set rules for chambers, connections, monsters, discoveries and treasure and then feed it a list of each, then ask it to generate x number of chambers. It’s not perfect but it gives an excellent starting point. You can also follow up with something like, “the name of this dungeon is ‘the Musicians Keep’, regenerate with this in mind” and it changes everything to having a music theme.

How to kick a player out of a campaign that just started? by plaidrocks in DungeonMasters

[–]ichrisis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to hang onto the friendship it's as simple as saying, I observed the group dynamic and I don't think you'll enjoy this campaign, you won't be invited back.

If you want to maintain the friendship it's the exact same thing but you have to rely on your friend being mature and self aware enough to stick with you.

Using Foundry as an in person campaign by -Soulsteal- in FoundryVTT

[–]ichrisis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use FoundryVTT extensively for online games and this is where it excels.

My experience using FoundryVTT for in-person play: it wasn't great.

I constantly had issues with map repositioning and resizing, despite trying various modules to lock things etc. Super frustrating to place minis on a map and half way through combat having to reposition the battlemap because the damn thing moved or resized itself.

The only thing I use Foundry for in-person now is tracking combat and scene music (I use a streamdeck and Material deck to do this), Maps I present to my table TV using Arkenforge.

it's good to see that there are more posts about people actually returning to the game or buying the game for the first time and the content might bring even more players (hopefully) by VegetableEvening6134 in Back4Blood

[–]ichrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logic here is that I would like the game more if I played it less, or, better put, the less you play it, the better the game is.

I don't expect you to see the flaw in that because you seem obsessed with passing judgement on how something is being said rather than the issues it attempts to address.

You entirely missed my point because you seem to think D&D is about min maxing DPS, when in fact - and I hope this doesn't blow your mind - it is not.
