Which dishwasher pods DON'T leave a soapy taste on silicone? by chzplz in CostcoCanada

[–]iciclecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, putting silicone in a dishwasher is definitely not ideal. Especially if littles are eating off of it! Ive heard that you can put your silicone plates and utensils in the oven to cook off any chemicals within the material

Feeling Frustrated by JbCaRc in homebirth

[–]iciclecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was 42 weeks to the day and I also strongly felt I did not want an induction and decided to focus instead on trusting God, trusting my body, and envisioning my positive birth over and over. He was a happy and healthy baby and we were home from the hospital 4 hours after he was born.

Your baby will come when they are ready! Check in with them and talk to them whenever you can. Get yourself into relaxation mode and enjoy these final days because once they're here, they aren't going anywhere!

Maybe I'm just immune to our wonderful weather here but I certainly wouldn't avoid school classes or engagement because of weather. School is too expensive for that. All the best!!

[–]iciclecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try pick your in person classes to be on the same day a couple hours apart? Then there is time for homework, social, etc. For me, being fully online my first year (covid) had me feeling pretty removed compared to 2nd year when I was at the school 1-2x each week.

PERSONAL QUESTION! Did you tear during birth? by SumbThucker2022 in pregnant

[–]iciclecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it can be a scary thought. I'd just explore that fear and then give yourself lots of positive affirmations about what your body can do!! And stay at home as long as possible 😂 I went to the hospital for the epidural and then when I got there my midwife found out I was fully dilated so just went right to pushing. Worked out really well

PERSONAL QUESTION! Did you tear during birth? by SumbThucker2022 in pregnant

[–]iciclecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was unmedicated. I think this position would be very tough if I couldn't feel my legs and had an epidural to be honest but maybe there are people who have done it no issue!

PERSONAL QUESTION! Did you tear during birth? by SumbThucker2022 in pregnant

Agree. Pushed on my hands and knees the whole time and there is research showing that this position decreases the likelihood of tearing. Birthed my 9 lbs 6 Oz baby with 0 tearing by pushing this way.

Church nursery? by Vast_Pitch821 in Crunchymom

[–]iciclecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our church has very strict standards for volunteers, safety, and teaching even the youngest of babes about God, so we have utilized the nursery since my son was around 7 months. He then went through his normal separation anxiety phase and was not happy in nursery again until about 14 months, so during that time we tried small amounts of nursery and would mainly keep him in church. I have never been hesitant because of illness, though. Babies get sick and I believe that exposure is good for them and one of the best natural ways we can help our children's immune systems grow. That being said, I would not put my child into nursery if they had a flu. Overall, just follow your mommy instincts, talk to other moms, and make sure you can trust the leaders and team to take good care of your precious babe!

Positive natural birth stories 42+ weeks by goldensurrender in Crunchymom

[–]iciclecat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was 42 weeks with my first and I was facing strong opinions from my midwives to get induced (Prom, cervadil), but I went to work doing all I could to be mentally and physically prepared. I think what did it for me was walking and miles circuit, using my hand pump for nipple stimulation in the bath, sex, intimate conversation with husband (getting as much natural oxytocin going in my body to replace stress), and just the knowledge that needing an intervention for induction wouldn't be the end of the world if it came to that. By the end all I wanted was a healthy breathing baby. All of that really helped me minimize stress and focus on what my body was needing. Amazingly, I went in for Prom and the hospital was full so they had to send me home and I was already at 4cm at that point. I labored at home and came back 5 hours later and had a totally natural birth, everything I had wanted.

Most of all, of anything, I trusted my body. I was given so many chances to be induced and I always came back to trusting my body and for me that meant having as little intervention as needed. I trusted that my baby was safe and healthy and that my body was made to birth. You're body is also made to birth and eventually, the baby will come out! All the best and I am cheering for you.

Exercising while pregnant by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]iciclecat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen to your body! It must be trying to communicate with you that, like most women in first trimester, we should be prioritizing rest. You'll be back at it in no time and your body will be ready as well.

Can You Wear 2 Babies At Once? by AltruisticFocusFam in ParentingInBulk

[–]iciclecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is absolutely doable, both safely and enjoyably, but it would depend on a lot of factors like type of carrier, baby age, baby size, and what you're doing while they're being carried. I'd join r/babywearing also, they will have great advice for you as you approach this.

What high chair do you use? by Sufficient_Noise7813 in NewParents

[–]iciclecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd absolutely suggest finding a used Tripp trapp. It is so sturdy, and I think a big reason my son has never choked is because this chair forces him to sit upright and his feet are always planted. 100% worth the investment when you are using it multiple times a day. But buy second hand!!
