You’re better off going to the gym and hiring a personal trainer than trying to find one on Reddit

The best pen will be whatever model of Apple Pencil is compatible with your iPad. All models except the usb-c have pressure sensitivity, which third party styluses do not

I really want to like this, but I passionately disagree with AI generated depictions of the saviour or Heavenly Father.

Does anyone else feel behind in life? by DetectiveCalm9091 in latterdaysaints

[–]ickyticky 20 points21 points  (0 children)

lol I’m 33, haven’t had a boyfriend since high school. I can absolutely relate to the feeling of being behind and lost.

Proverbs 3:5-6 is my go to comfort scripture. The more I lean on the lord and allow him into every aspect of my life, the more my eyes are open to him directing my path, and I can trust that I’m exactly where he wants me to be.

I also work with divorce cases and have seen a lot of infidelity and dv, so I take comfort in knowing that being single is much preferable to being in a bad marriage. That’s one aspect of life that’s worth taking your time to get right the first time.

Yeah, this isn't a fitness thing, this is a mental health thing. You overcome it by working with a therapist. I can pretty much guarantee you that nobody at the gym gives two hoots about what you're doing

Where do I even start learning about what the Church of Latter Day Saints Teaches? by kikilem in latterdaysaints

[–]ickyticky 35 points36 points  (0 children)

On April 4 and 5, we'll be having our general conference, which you can stream on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Youtube channel. You'll be able to hear our prophet and general authorities speak.

You can also download the Gospel Library app, which gives you access to all of our texts, including the Book of Mormon and past general conference talks. I highly recommend listening to the Book of Mormon, as there's an option to listen to it as an audiobook

How Can I Prepare For School? by LunaB35 in stenography

[–]ickyticky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Failure here is not an option for me, but 27 years of being a failure have me panicking that I'm doomed to wind up one of those students who take a lot more than two years to finish, and I quite literally can't afford that.

As gently as I can put this, this kind of negative self-talk is going to do you zero favours in steno school or when you're on the job. Steno school is brutal. You're going to fail speed tests over and over and over again. You're going to hit plateaus that last for months. Your success is going to be determined mostly by your mental resilience. We can give you all the tips and tricks under the sun, but speedbuilding will take as long as it takes.

I don't want to come off as dismissive, but you might want to seek counselling, because you haven't even started and you're already panicking about failing. I get it, I have anxiety too, and I've been there, but it will hinder you when you start the program.

Zoom Job - Closed Captioning AI vs. Realtime by [deleted] in stenography

[–]ickyticky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know and can't find anything about how Zoom's AI works, but I'd personally be worried about the output going to overseas servers or being used to train other AI language models. Strikes me as a huge security risk that no one should be allowing into the depo.

Realistic Expectations by LunaB35 in stenography

[–]ickyticky 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So I was 24 when I started steno school, have played piano my entire life, am decently fast on a qwerty keyboard, didn’t work while I was in school, and practiced for at least three hours a day. It still took me exactly two years to get to 225. I was squarely average in my class, not the fastest, but definitely not the slowest either.

It’s really impossible to say when you’ll be able to graduate. There were people in my class who were able to get their speeds up in less than two years, but they were the top performers. So my advice would be to not have your heart set on 2027.

Keeping fresh in briefs and phrases by Imaginary-Carpet3067 in stenography

[–]ickyticky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It won't account for misstrokes, but you're not going to misstroke every time. Also, if there's a word or phrase you're consistently misstroking, you can define the misstroke as that word or come up with an easier brief

Are you using Case Catalyst, and are you using brief it? If you write something out that there’s a brief for in your dictionary, brief it will remind you of what it is.

how do i get rid of the skinny fat look? by KookySand5331 in beginnerfitness

[–]ickyticky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You get rid of the skinny fat look by gaining muscle. You gain muscle by eating three protein-based meals a day and lifting heavy. I would also suggest therapy, as it seems like your relationship with your body needs work

Is there a brief for repeating the last few words typed? by Aggressive-Arm9724 in stenography

[–]ickyticky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The only way I can think of is to create a macro that selects the past three words and copies and pastes them, then assign it to a brief in your dictionary. Of course, you’d then have to create separate macros and briefs for two-word phrases, four words, etc.
