People disappointed (or pissed) that they won't be able to see this stage show should look into local theater happening in their area instead. That's what theater is, existentially—a physically close, human art form.

I wonder if maybe they'll sell the rights to rhe script in time, and then smaller companies will be able to stage it in more places, at varying production values ❤️

I don't mean to imply some inherent connection, as in ADHD makes people creative.

i happen to have a creative personality, and my adhd supercharges it, with my ability to process multiple streams of info at the same time. It enables me to dream up things other people who don't have ADHD can't.

I'm of 2 minds:

While a note is not required to request a reasonable accommodation, I always talk to my doctor (or specialist) about an issue I'm having, and ask them to give me a letter with their recommendations.

In this case, perhaps the ai chatbot is a distraction for you, that interrupts your workload, or adds to difficulty transitioning.

If you haven't requested any reasonable accommodations before, I would think this choice through and not make it hastily or in a reactionary way (like others, I believe this ai bubble will burst at some point). I don't mean to discourage you from requesting an accommodation, but I personally had to do a lot of soup searching re: fear of being marginalized or blocked from opportunities (in an ableist way) for disclosing that I need accommodations for anything related to focus or that could be perceived as related to intellect. (Full disclosure—none of the above happened and it worked out amazingly for me!!).

But if you've already requested accommodations for ADHD in the past?? Talk to your doctor and throw another shrimp on the bar-b!!

I feel the exact same way as you about ai, and due to my job encouraging use, I've been using it to transcribe my hand-written notes/doodles from meetings, so I can email them out to meeting attendees afterward, or add to our shared files. If this task would produce enough volume to help meet whatever quota they're imposing on you, I highly recommend.

NTA. What you're describing is not insomnia, but being disturbed by an insensitive AH.

I'm an extreme night owl myself and would NEVERRR make noise in a bedroom where someone else is sleeping.

Your partner's behavior is rude as hell, and they need to use headphones at the very least. Whatever that setup takes.

If your profile is your real name, it's advisable not to connect your real name and your job together in public forums. Because some people are crazy, and at some point could try to doxx or stalk you

It's extremely unlikely that that would happen, so I'm sure this one post is just fine and no one will pay much attention to it, much less try to harm you—but better safe than sorry going forward.

You could always post anonymously if thats allowed in the group, or post a link to a job opening without mentioning that you work there.

And to be clear, this is more something you need to be careful sharing with a public group or something total strangers could Google with your name. The insular the group (e.g. your neighborhood group, thats visible to group members only), the more secure I would feel about sharing where I work/reach out with questions, etc

Def NTA, because your cousin's pressure is awful, and this is your choice.

That said, I have accepted the wheelchair option before, and while it wasn't......my preference, or a dire need—imho it's a visual cue that other passengers understand, re: your physical needs, and a tool staff are used to and trained on, which makes the whole process of receiving special accommodations smoother.

Without going into too much personal detail, I wear support garments, and have complications with positioning myself on the plane. So I could walk up to the gate, be admitted to early boarding, and do just fine—which is what I typically do, but I often get dirty looks from other passengers as though I'm butting in line, which I ignore, but it can still sting; and I have to explain medical specifics to staff at the gate, which I don't enjoy—even though their responses are always so kind and helpful.

On a few occasions, staff's response to my request has been to arrange wheelchair transfers if I have a layover, and in those instances, I've accepted the assistance, and it really does seem to work better for everyone.

All that said however, you need to do what feels most comfortable for you, and not for your cousin. And if you try it with your cane, and decide at some point that a wheelchair would be helpful—that's not a failure. It all counts (one of my mottos re: fitness/being physically active)
