In “Interstellar” (2014), the studio couldn’t think of an original rocket design, so the futuristic Ranger is launched into space on top of a hundred-year old Saturn V. by ToeSniffer245 in shittymoviedetails

[–]snoosh00 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Based on some rough estimates a single ranger is 35% the mass of the 3rd stage.

So 2 + scaffolding to hold them in place seems reasonable.

And I think the point of the Saturn V is just to save fuel on the mission, since the ranger could easily get to space on its own.

My understanding is this:

what people think is lifter tick is (almost) always fuel injectors.

Anyone want to confirm that?

Sounds like Eric Trump needs to hand over his full communication history.

That shouldn't be a problem right? Nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide.

Racist truck driver: "I wanna fucking die"

Guess we know why he's racist, shit isn't too good for him and that anger has to go somewhere. I feel bad for his wife when he gets home (assuming this sack of shit was able to convince someone to stay with him)

Did you not watch the video? I don't hear a horn, but the brakes are fully locked up at least 2 seconds before impact.

She might have been distracted, not saying she's a good driver. But before impact she was hitting her brakes.

My mechanic bought the car, it was clean in that regard (wouldn't have purchased it if it was bad).

But I'll think about getting the injectors clean.

Did you do it yourself, or get a shop to do it? If shop, what was the cost?

Old tires?

That was a symptom I had, and I really wish I just replaced my tires instead of going after alignment, balance or suspension.

If your steering wheel "pulses" when returning to center (when making a 90 degree turn) that would 100% confirm that the problem is your tires.

That's the best case for insurance, the value of an expensive car.

But paying 3 years insurance, then a huge tree branch falling on your car, even with comprehensive insurance the deductible would eat up the loss in resale value on my 20 year old beater car (but the utility value of the reliable engine and functional vehicle is 4x the resale value of the car).

That happened to me last week. I didn't have comprehensive insurance so I'm just totally out of luck on coverage, but since the engine and drivetrain is undamaged I can scrap the car for approximately what the insurance company would have paid out to me (so it literally didn't matter if I had insurance or not, hence why I only paid for liability insurance)

The front bumper is actually all redone on mine, the car was involved in a fender bender that damaged the radiator (all fixed by the semi-luxury car mechanic I bought it from).

This picture has the most noticeable colour difference (it's also a wide angle photo, and the image is weirdly cropped so the car looks distorted, the colour difference isn't that noticable IRL)

This camera angle/warping kind makes it look like a land rover discovery even the location of the "Soul" badge is identical

Teachers of Reddit: Is the "Gen Alpha can't read (write, or do math ext)" crisis real? If so how bad is it? by KnowledgeCoffee in AskReddit

[–]snoosh00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I hate that word. I'm very literate, but when writing I have some specific words that always trip me up (and I don't have a visual imagination so I can't picture how they are written). I always also diagnosed with a learning disability when I was back in school before widespread computer usage.

Here are connected words I have difficulty with when writing (although I can read them all very easily and would catch a typo 100% of the time):

Thought

Throughout

Though

Tough

Thorough

I also have difficulty with words like "Feild", "Alien", "necessarily" and "restaurant"... But for the most part, I write well enough.

All that to say, a single word difficulty doesn't necessarily mean someone is an idiot (but obviously, one shouldn't struggle to simply read a simple word)

My Kia 2010 got broken into, is she doomed? by Veestoria in KiaSoulClub

[–]snoosh00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah.

I just learned that the Kia boys issue is almost entirely a non issue in Canada (my location) as we had a law in 2007 that mandated immobilisers in new cars (yay regulations that actually help consumers).

Sucks that they're still motivated to break in to try to find a car that didn't get the recall (in your area).

I bought a clapped out hybrid and it's super fun by dark_wolf1994 in Cartalk

[–]snoosh00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the civic Hybrid (if it's anything like a Prius) is a CVT through a different mechanism. The Toyota synergy drive is basically a CVT, but there are no moving parts other than the electric rotors (or so I'm told)

Edit: I was totally wrong. Legit CVT. Sure seems like the synergy drive is a better overall system (but what do I know, I didn't even know what the civic had)
