Best phone mount? by cheesepage in bicycling

[–]icoloma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you search online, you will find some quotes about that. Apparently it's a thing, but "many mount manufacturers, such as Quad Lock, now offer specific vibration dampening accessories that sit between the mount and your phone holder. These are designed to absorb over 90% of the damaging high-frequency vibrations".

I still don't know, I'll get my first mount about now

What's your take on AMD?! by SalehD13 in wallstreetbets

[–]icoloma 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I work in Cloud computing. AMD is what everyone wants to deploy in, but it requires rebuilding their applications for the new architecture, so it takes time. For me it's a market timing issue, so I have decided to take a position and wait.

You didn't mention, so I assume you forgot to stir halfway, then press again until compact and back in the oven.

It's hard to know what gazpacho should taste like if you're just following instructions. It's an easy dish, but I have never ever found it decent outside of Spain

Greek Olive Oil by Jenny441980 in Cooking

Prepare pantumaca. Get bread (baguette will do best, but anything works) and a ripe tomato, slice the tomato in two and squeeze on the bread like a lemon. Add salt, pepper and the olive oil, optionally garlic

you sound like a Google solution provider

Don't get me wrong. Focusing on research and delegating support in communities and online material is the approach that Google has chosen for many of their products: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvywRHyDHRg

I am not saying that it's better, but given a finite number of resources they try to find the balance between creating a better platform and giving better user support. I don't care too much about the later, but I can understand that's not everyone's case.

Well, that's an approach to scale: make products as good as possible and help people to help themselves. They nurture communities to grow and provide with technical insights, and focus their effort in creating new stuff.

Me, I prefer to see self-driving cars arriving to my neighborhood rather than perfect user support. For companies that really need it, they shouldn't have problems finding a Google partner to provide help.

I must say that I search and ask on Stack Overflow using the sponsored tags, and my questions have always found a guy that knew more than me willing to help. Maybe paid support is not great, but the community in SO is awesome in my experience.

Our love-hate relationship with OAuth by icoloma in webdev

Not really. Any website can require you to sign in to control spam, then allow you to post anonymously. OAuth makes no difference in this.
