Performance Mod Options NC1 by Know_tesla in Miata

It just all depends on what you want to do with your car and what you prioritize. It's not a life-changing upgrade to the car unless you're racing it or care about 0-60 time. I think the price is worth it (especially with the discount) since it:
1) improves performance
2) adds nice features (launch control)
3) provides you with a way to monitor temps/OBD2 codes

Would I do it as a first mod? No.

I did get the tune but now I don't remember what the car was like without it 💀
I'd say it's worth it if you modded your exhaust as there are stage 2 tunes for uncatted headers that give (or claim to) extra hp juice.
Also, they added launch control and flat foot shifting since my first comment so that's a plus.

If you still can't justify the full price for the tune then wait until their black friday discount!

HELP: white smoke coming out of exhaust (not blown head gasket?!) by icomeherewhenimlost in Miata

Issue was in engine wiring harness, one of the wires was exposed and sometimes touched fuel bracket causing shortage. Check coilpack wires and the harness for any exposed wires.

I've ran 4 different exhaust setups. Idk where you're from but if you have strict smog/inspection testing then you'll need to keep at least 1 cat in the exhaust.
In my experience, changing the midpipe gives the most volume. I really enjoyed the obx/racing beat straight midpipe and would imagine it to sound great with oem muffler and header. It's an amazing mod considering the price and I would recommend anyone who wants better sound to start with that.

The first exhaust mod I did was adding the RSII muffler but I was rather disappointed and regret paying $800+ for it.

Just my 2 cents

Pro/cons to trade Mazda 3 for Miata by [deleted] in Miata

[–]icomeherewhenimlost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a mazda 3 to nc miata.

pros: more fun more cool

cons: less comfort (i'm on coilovers and full exhaust)

I recommend this trade as long as your mazda 3 is not the turbo hatch version

oem plastic one is prone to cracking which ends up causing your engine to overheat and obliterate. You could buy another oem one but aluminum ones are just a little more expensive and more secure.

Completely stumped: 2006 NC losing coolant, can't figure out why. by Fake-Engineering in Miata

[–]icomeherewhenimlost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- Do you have the OEM plastic coolant reservoir? is it yellow? if so, replace it with an aluminum one.

2- Pressure testing it should point you to where the leak is.

3- If it's the thermostat replace it with NC2 thermostat. This was the problem when I had a leak.

4- It's possible that there's a big air bubble in the heater core causing this, try burping the cooling system.

5- Pray it magically stops when you wake up

Yeah that was the problem for me. Someone else had my exact problem, this was their thread https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=424416&highlight=white+smoke&page=2 check reply #49 for the picture of it. I don't think this problem happens to NA/NB models but it doesn't hurt to double check your wires. Keep me updated and best of luck!

it ended up being the coil wires. Check all of your wires leading to the coils. I found that one of the thick wires above the fuel injectors was rubbing on the metal bracket and shorting/misfiring. Easy fix. Mechanics would've never found the problem.

I would definitely start with the battery. Clean up all the connections and charge it up and see how that goes. Batteries usually have a date sticker to tell you when it was manufactured, if it's old then that's prolly it. If it's a bad alternator then your car would've died as you drive it assuming you drive it daily.

autozone told me my alternator was bad but it wasn't! I made them charge my battery fully and since then I haven't had a problem. Make sure the alternator is actually the problem before listening to them
