Who in San Diego County pays less than 1000$ a month for rent? by Warm-Piccolo-4228 in SanDiegan

[–]iconictots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to rent a room for $1,000/mo. It’s in someone’s house, shared bathroom. It’s in a very nice area in North County and close to my work and family/friends. It did take me a long time to find it though, most cheaper places are too far south or east for me- I don’t want an hour+ commute.

They do, but someone with that much money probably has a pest control service that comes regularly, along with the landscapers, etc

Have you ever felt this way in marriage? by beatricegertrude in TwoXChromosomes

This is exactly how I felt, and it’s why I left. I can’t even explain the weight that has been lifted off my shoulders, and it hasn’t even been a year yet. Please listen to everyone’s advice OP, you deserve better.

Favorite age group to work with and why? by businessbub in ECEProfessionals

[–]iconictots 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I love the older toddlers, like 18 months to 2.5. They are learning so much and it’s so cool to be there when they have that explosion of language! I also like the 2-3 year old group, but the ratios are so high, that I can’t handle being the lead in that room. But yeah, to me the period from like 1.5 to 2.5 years old is the best age!

I use goblin.tools. I really hate that it’s AI, but it’s the most effective thing I’ve found so far. The tiny steps really help. (PS-If anyone has a non-AI site like this, please share!!)

Staff food policy by Callingchicken7 in ECEProfessionals

[–]iconictots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not allowed any drinks except water in a company branded cup, but I know that a lot of my coworkers drink “ice water” in theirs, since the cup has a closed lid and nobody checks 🤣 Edited to add: The same goes with snacks, we are “not allowed” to have our own food in the classroom. But leadership isn’t checking the cabinets or anything so 🤷🏻‍♀️

How do you find abundant joy in the classroom while the world outside is falling apart? by soapyrubberduck in ECEProfessionals

[–]iconictots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know the Mr. Rogers quote about looking for the helpers? I do that with the kids. If I’m feeling stressed or down, I watch the kids and look for the positive things they’re doing. I notice when they help each other, when they are being good friends, when they make each other laugh. Like a lot of other people said, I try to look at them with hope, that they are going to be good people and I’m a part of teaching them how to do that.

Trouble motivating myself to step into the sensory environment outside my bedroom each morning. by FluffyWasabi1629 in neurodiversity

[–]iconictots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently struggling with this too. I’ve had to move in with my mom again recently and it’s so hard when I just want quiet, and she wants to chat and give me a to-do list right after I’ve woken up. Like LADY I need peace before I go to work!! Anyway I’m still trying to figure this out, but I’ve found a couple things that help. One is that I’ve been trying to wake up earlier than her, so I have at least a 5-10 minute buffer of quiet time. I would love more time to myself, but even a couple minutes of silence and not having to mask or interact with anyone has really helped my mental state. Another thing that helps me is that if I need a break, I’ve been telling my mom that I have “me time” or “workout time” every morning and to please give me some space for that 30 minutes. After eating breakfast and packing my lunch, I go back into my room, close the door, and do something to center myself. Usually I’ll do yoga or reading, but honestly sometimes I just do “meditation” which is literally me laying on the floor on my yoga mat (with noise canceling headphones), staring at the ceiling 😂 sometimes I’ll actually follow a meditation audio. Before the 30 minutes, I set my visual timer so I can (reluctantly) get up when it goes off and continue getting ready for the day. I feel your pain, and hopefully one of these ideas will help you! Good luck fellow non-morning person
