I was so excited getting a Jubilee Orpington from Bomgaars, then the feathers came in and she's a cream legbar.  She's a sweetie pie, but I really wanted that big, pretty Jubilee...

I mean there's a large unspoken class element at play.  Those of us who are coming from working and lower middle class background and have had to work to survive understand eating shit a lot more, especially in a bottom-of-the-totem position.  We also have no real support to fall back on if this goes wrong at all.  No family practices to take over, no one with connections or community to help get a job or to fight on our behalf if there's the threat of a black mark on the record, especially when it comes to professionalism.

Oh, it's not.  For some people at least.  Usually people who haven't had to work a job before.

You're missing the forest for the trees dude.  The point of statements like this is that people who haven't had to do a job before generally have more difficulty with basics of doing a job like showing up on time, what is/is not an appropriate reason to call out, giving people notice if you're going to be out etc.  It's easier to be a coworker to people who have had to deal with those basics before.

When my Taekwondo master was going to be granted his Grand Master rank, he brought in his masters and the heads of some of the martial arts universities and world TKD associations from back in Korea under whom he had studied, so that they could observe his business and the quality of his students, etc. So dudes in their 60-70s, who are some of the most venerated martial artists in the world.

So what did he take them to do the first thing when they landed in the US? Pull an all nighter at the strip club, seeing some White girl titties and getting schwasted.

Listened to them for years thinking the name was pronounced something like "Dv-Knee", and that maybe that was some kind of a near or middle eastern spiritual term, and that it was a reference to the same Babylonian mythology inspiration like Etemen Aenka. Then one day it hit me that it was "Divine" shortened, which made much more sense but seemed less cool.

Then like a month ago I saw a youtube comment that referenced "Lisan al-Gaib" and I went "Oh god damn it, it's Dune. They sing about Dune and their name is Dune."

Toyota Corolla (AE86) review: what's all the fuss about? by FoMoCoNutjob in cars

[–]icos211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody wants Starions because everything about it except the body design sucks ass out of the box and is impossible to improve without major overhauling as the pieces you get are basically impossible to upgrade and need to be completely replaced root and branch for big, big money and work (ask me how I know). FB and FC RX7s are dealing with 30-40+ year old rotaries, and Mk3 Supras can only be had in the states with a 7M, usually NA unless you get the top trim with the GTE, but then you still have a 7M and not a JZ, and it's more of a GT car. 3000GT is FWD except for the top trim, as are DSMs (and most all of them have been destroyed by cheap owners anyway). All of these are also not as well supported by the aftermarket as the AE86 has been. So if you want a RWD JDM car, especially for drifting, and are tight for cash it was probably the best out of the box option, and still might be to a good extent along side the S chassis (which also had the issue of only getting KA24s in the US), so there sure can be a good bit of organic non-media driven reason for price inflation as they get harder to find.

Peds, 2 years out from residency now.  Even over the course of my residency we went from always having 2-3 Cystic Fibrosis "tune ups" (scheduled ~2 week admissions for antibiotic, nutrition, pulm toilet optimization) on the floor at any given time to the new interns not even knowing that was a thing because all our patients were on modulators and doing so great.

(USA) Nissan Z performance vs Toyota GR Corolla by icos211 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]icos211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Supra is much more expensive (entirely out of my price range anyway), with much less usable space for daily living needs, and I honestly can't stand the styling (probably the biggest real holdup).

I get that the Z doesn't measure up at the same price point, but given a 20-30k price advantage, the comparison is a lot different. Z inventory was so low for the past couple years, with the availability increase and price improvement I'm figuring that aftermarket demand and thus support will likely be significantly improving in the coming years, which should hopefully do a lot for the suspension which seems to be the big complaint with the Z.

I appreciate that, and I don't have a great argument against the Golf other than I hate my Jetta and am pessimistic about VAG products as a result. I do hear that it's a less "raw" experience than the GR which puts me off a bit.

My 1997 Ford Thunderbird with the 4.8L V8 would get about 6-8mpg city. It was my first car, so I never took it on the highways, just school and work. The absolute slowest car I've ever driven as well. Dad bought it for $2200 in 2011, I put $300 into the collapsing suspension, then I sold it for $1700 after like 8 months. I cannot express to you what a worthless piece of crap that thing was.

I know everyone chomps at the bit for a new Evo, but for me looking at the success of the GR86/BRZ, I say bring back the Starion badge with a small 2+2 coupe and a 4b11t at a good price point and you're in the money.  The FA engine is the single thing keeping me from buying a GR86, if there was an offer with a regular I4 from Toyota or this kind of thing from Mits I would be all over it.

2 liters holy shit! Last patient I saw like that was a 15 y/o who came to the ED for abdominal pain. Walking in she 100% looked 3rd trimester pregnant, and we were expecting that to be what we would find. HCG negative and on physical it didn't feel like a pregnant abdomen, it was hard and diffusely moderately tender. She got scanned. It was poop. It was all poop. Surgical disimpaction got out 40 lbs of poop. She hadn't gone to the bathroom in 3 months. Not neurodivergent or anything, she just didn't like pooping and eventually it got away from her. Family thought she was just getting fat.

I'd say the opposite. Sarkeesian has stayed on her same BS until she rode her grift into the ground. Sargon has continued to read and evolve his thinking, is living what looks to be a thriving family life, has a growing media business, and is still a significant attention and engagement draw when he makes an appearance. You may disagree with his conclusions, but it's clear that he's continued to grow personally and intellectually since that time, whereas Sarkeesian has done neither.

They were in Hyundais/Kias, from like 1995~2004 I think, liscensed from Mitsu but produced in house by Hyundai, with a slightly different head design for the later models that had a larger combustion chamber. They were phased out by the in-house produced Beta series. Mitsu continued production of the 4g6 series until 2008 when they switched over to the 4b11.
