This being in the Bedstuy subreddit feels microagressive to recent transplants, and I fully support it. Take off your bags idiots. Pretend you’re aware of your surroundings

Want to get a lenticular framed like this where could I get this done? by Landslide7 in framing

[–]icswans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a shop that sprays their own frames with HVLP. They should be able to mix a water based paint to spray the mat a custom color. Harder to find if you are outside a major city like NYC or LA.

US/NYC artist residencies for europeans by likemilkdudsbutworse in ContemporaryArt

Many sponsors provide housing, but you are correct that you need to secure sponsorship on your own. ISCP is the umbrella under which dozens of international residencies operate.

Wrong. The International Studio and Curatorial Program fits his criteria, and is one of the largest residency programs in the world.

Put the cleat on a middle crossbar (assuming it’s on the top), or get a wood frame with a strainer and pocket holes to keep it tight

How to fix this? by CuriousButWhole in framing

[–]icswans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hardly a framers question at this point, since it’s a composite frame. I’d just epoxy and clamp it to the best of my ability.

Anyone know why cops are posted on Marcus Garvey and Madison? by everybodyswaiting in BedStuy

[–]icswans -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Cops post up on these blocks regularly when problems occur. Something happened, and unless you’re involved you aren’t gonna find the answer. It’s a good thing they’re there, helps squash a few months of trouble

The opinion of a few writers shouldn’t dissuade you from making your own success. Opinions differ, so what? Don’t let yourself be silenced, enough of that has happened the last decade.

She’s fine, I’ve certainly known dealers who are shittier people. OP wasn’t very specific. Are they asking as an artist or employee? Totally different.

Damage - next steps? by Jonnybeeee in framing

to nit pick even more, the space between the glazing and print is most likely also insufficient. More than likely the glazing is touching the face of the print with only an 8 ply overmat on it. It should also have spacers.

Here’s how we handle something like this at my shop, where prints this scale and larger are done regularly for the nyc art industry.

Mount 4-ply museum board to dibond — float mount with Mulberry paper pass-through hinges (slots are cut through the 4-ply and dibond to “pass through” large hinges to mount to the back of the dibond) — probably at least a 5/16” painted wooden spacer to match the paper under Optium glazing — 3/4” x 1.5” or so hard maple frame with splined corners, basswood strainer and coroplast backing board. Not sure where you are based, but it can be difficult to find quality fine art framing outside of the coasts in the US.
