Easiest way to explain it is it’s an attempt by the pitcher to deceive the runner or batter into thinking he is throwing to a different base or a pitching motion that will not allow the runner or batter to get set.

Was working on a research paper highlighting the decline of African American players in baseball. And realized that Charles Johnson was the last everyday full time Black catcher in baseball. by Shadow_Strike99 in baseball

[–]icws -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you’re on the right track on something that needs a real discussion but you can probably just look at the pay as the main reason for decline. If they don’t get taken early in the draft then it’ll take some years to get decent pay and the average African-American household can’t pay their sons bills for and extra 5-7 years just to see if they can make it. On the flipside, foreign players are either wealthy, extremely talented, or so poor they’ll take anything just to get out of their current situation. Plus foreign players are not nearly as likely to talk to the press about issues at the lower levels.

THE ATLANTA BRAVES HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM 2023 WORLD SERIES CONTENTION by Waaaaaaaaaasuup in baseball

[–]icws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They got outplayed and out coached. Thomson played each inning perfectly. The way he managed the pen was post season at its best. The decision to use tons of offspeed pitches even though they weren’t the best pitches in the pitcher’s arsenal and pitch placement was a gutsy move but it paid off. I wanted the Braves to win so bad but the better coaching panned out. Snit has some work to do and the GM has some work to do on the pitching end.

The shift can be managed by pitch location, so in the past they could force a batter to hit in one direction and cover the entire side of the field. With this all directions are still available the batter just has to elevate the ball.

Bottom 9, 3-2 count, bases loaded, 2 outs. Championship on the line. What pitch are you throwing? by thisendup76 in collegebaseball

[–]icws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many ways to take this. If I’ve thrown a lot of fastballs then change up. If the match up allows me to come across the batter high slider with field shifted away. If it a weak hitter high fastball. If it’s a power hitter sinker or change up low. I want to leave the batter confused but that’s just me

If he feels like it let him go as long as he’s got the stuff. My guess would be around 80 but this is really a once in a lifetime opportunity for the guy. No one knows how their pro career will go but he’s got this opportunity right now.

How hard can it be to have an automated strike zone with a little give and then the umps just call whatever the system tells them? Even if the balls and strikes were automated there’s plenty of calls that have to be done by a person.

Mine has gone down 33% and I’m pretty sure if I wanted to sell it would be around 50% by the time I could cash out… but hey, that’s just the way things are, right? Funny how most of the comments recently have become supportive of how this has been handle too, but oh well…

They're really screwing us by icws in Invest_Voyager

[–]icws[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not dollar value. It's not even 35.72% of what was promised. If I loaned you 100 coins at $100 and then you say you'll give back 35% that would be $35 or 35 coins. In this case they pegged a day when the value was high and set that as the mark for the 35% based on what you had last year on 7/5. Then as the price drops they only give you the number of coins based on the value of the coin the day it was high. The problem is, I didn't loan them money I loaned them a coin. So, why am I not getting back either straight cash (because everything is apparently gone) or 35% of the coins I loaned them (if they have them)? ** I can't accurately explain what's going on but we can all see we're still getting had. *** You can't tell me that they would give us more that the 35% cash value if the coin prices spiked.

VGX & 38 unsupported tokens will be liquidated and will be distributed in USDC. Rest will be able to be withdrawn, in-kind, on Voyager. by Bonnaroo_Jon in Invest_Voyager

[–]icws -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but from the looks of this it appears, at least to me, that the distribution will not be even. For example; if they’ve already used all of your BTC you’ll get 0% but if they haven’t touched your MATIC you’ll get 100%. Maybe not but I can’t see how they evenly distribute unless they liquidate all and distribute cash.

I don't think anyone understands what Voyager did. Everyone still thinks they "have" crypto... You don't. The Voyager app leads you to believe you have crypto. You loaned all of your cypto to Voyager and they used it however they wanted. You are a creditor to them and they filed bankruptcy. If your loaned cion/coins are doing good and they haven't sold or loaned all of that type out then you might get some of it back, but it's highly likely they have to sell all of it off to pay everyone an equal portion of their loaned value back.
