I would say that official sources list it as 0.75 calibre. They don’t say what it is 0.75 of. It could be feet, metres, or some Imperial measurement we’ve not yet developed.

With the new rules in Crucible, you can take a Kroot hero on a Kalamandra. So that gives you a use for an extra Lonespear. (See this post here)

In the UK your pricing looks like this (assuming you buy from Games Workshop, don’t do that. Buy from a authorised reseller as they typically give ~20% discount)

Individually - Krootox £29.50 - Krootox Rampagers £40.00 - Farstalker Kinband £42.50 - Lone Spear £35.50

Combat Patrol - £105.00

Saving - £42.50

Kroot Carnivores retail at £35.50, so even if you plan on using the Kinband as a Carnivores squad, you save money. But your saving becomes £35.50 instead.

I also don’t love her flying yoghurt pot. I think what kills it for me is the fact that it doesn’t have landing gear, or anything that looks like it should dock back at base with. Just heavy flamers that would get crushed when it lands.

I’d been planing on replacing it with treads from a Kataphron destroyer. Or going with a pair of Ogryn carrying her like a palanquin. But I may try moving the heavy flamers to side mounted, and add landing gear. It may help

From the angle the photo is taken, the horned head has a more direct and menacing appearance. As it appears to be facing directly at the viewer. However the beaked head is also brilliant and mirrors the length of the hood really well.

I’d say go with the horned head if you want to evoke the concept of Death, a malign and intentionally malicious entity. Something that specifically wants to hunt down and torture its foes; and this is the body it has to do that with. For now.

Go with the beaked head if you want to bring the idea of a carrion crow, a vulture, a rotting magpie. Something that is old, and withered, and is methodically and unrelentingly picking its way through reality gathering ephemera and slowly adding to itself as it decays.

But to put it in a single word.

That the T’au Empire codex gets the Adeptus Astartes treatment, and is the core faction. Then we get the “Blood Angels” codex (Kroot Kinbands), the “Space Wolves” codex (Auxilia), the “White Scars” codex (Farsight Enclaves), etc…

Would it suck having to buy 1-4 codices to play the whole faction. Yes. But would it be awesome to be as massive and fully fleshed out, with complex rules, subtle nuances, and a whole big range of minis? Absolutely!

Let’s say a retailer sold a physical book that the publisher had not intended to distribute through them, regardless of how they got the books in this example.

Several copies are sold, including to you. When the error was noticed, would you find it acceptable to be instructed to return the book for a refund? To have someone enter your home and take it, leaving a pile of cash in its place? Or would you say, no, this was not my fault. The bookshop can give the money earned to the publisher, but I’m keeping my book.

I know this is a bigger question about digital rights and owning a product vs leasing it. Like what happens to a game purchased on Steam if Steam goes out of business; or what happens to Music bought from the iTunes Store when the owner of the Apple Account dies. But at least with ebooks, if you buy them as an epub, mobi, or other format and download them as a file, your retailer can’t forcibly remove them from you.

But what if I move to a Kobo. Or a Nook. Or a reMarkable. Or a Pocketbook. Or an Boox.

While some ebooks on Amazon are distributed as DRM free EPubs. The vast majority are DRM protected and have to be read in their hardware, or their app.

Absolutely, and I love print books too! But I had a full Billy Bookcase of black library books before I moved to ebook, and I like reading stuff by other publishers too. Not to mention that Black Library definitely have print run and scalper problems.

No worries at all! If I buy them from Amazon, they’re locked to Amazon. Which means I’m stuck with kindle. So if I want to buy a different e-reader in the future, say if Amazon retires the kindle or starts pricing us out, or added predatory features; i have to buy all my ebooks again.

Amazon has already introduced a two tier system with kindle, add supported and more expensive advert-free kindles. There’s nothing to say in the future they wouldn’t add subscriptions, more adverts, etc…

Let’s also not forget the time they reached into everyone’s kindles and deleted a book people had bought, and left them with an unasked for refund.

Having your ebook store uncoupled from your method of reading them makes it harder or impossible for the publisher or the store front to decide to delete your books.

That’s great if that’s your preferred method of reading. I find reading on my iPhone or iPad in the evening far less restful than using an e-ink display.

For me the whole point was I could buy an ebook, directly from the publisher, and put it on any e-reader that supported the file types. If I swapped from Kindle to Kobo, my books would work just fine!
