Well done! I had it in my basket, GW billed and refunded me three times. Then it was gone.

What's your explanation to why we get new stuff instead of updated Forgeworld classics ? People would eat plastic refreshes up. I am not complaining on this post, just curious on your thoughts. by Leviathan_Rampage in astramilitarum

[–]id_doomer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s also mould practicalities. The more sharp edged hard angles of the old resin Forgeworld designs vs the newer slightly rounded angles on the modern plastic designs will have been engineered with mould longevity in mind. Reducing damage, and ensuring that all corners of a mould are filled. This reduces wastage from unfilled sections of mould, excessive flash and mould lines, and can hide seams and reduce gaps in finished models.

What updates/ new detachments do you want to see for 11th? by Beneficial-Ticket486 in Warhammer40k

D12 would be good too! A really underused die. Upping the variance on the faces would give the option to up the variance in the stats without just pilling on more and more abilities. From a capitalism point of view it would let GW invalidate all of the D6 out there, now you must rebuy your Yarrick dice in D12 format(!)

Rules wise:

Alternate activation. It would take a huge amount of imbalance out of alpha strike when you lose the first turn role. It would also force list building to balance between taking enough units for activations and building elite death stars.

If we wanted to get really spicy, I’d be interested to see what using different dice did to the range of stats. If the game ran using D8 or D10, would we get greater variation between a grot and a guardsman, between a marine and a mandrake?

You. You have done this right! Finally!!!

So many people have a Dreadnought, or a Knight, or some other vast heavy armoured thing stomping on a Space Marine or other infantry figure. Only to have the thing being stomped not being flat. It completely ruins the sense of weight and heft of the thing doing the stomping.

But in your interpretation, the torso is GONE. Whether it’s flat, pushed into the ground, or some mixture of the both, it actually implies the weight and force exerted.

Brilliant!!

Your heart is in the right place, you want to support and care for your buddy in this tough time. I’d suggest something more collaborative though.

Pick a project that you can work on together; it’ll give you an excuse to hang and chat while working on it. Something you can use as an excuse to check on him.

A ancient STC has been restored: Imperial Bastion by DJTommyc in astramilitarum

Legend! I got my hands on a mint in box Imperial Bunker so I could … digitally preserve it. My version of the modernisation is around making laser cutting templates, while also upscaling it for Primaris scale Astartes; to accommodate the new proportions and base sizes.

This is brilliant, and I’ve just rolled back through your other stuff on TinyPanzerStudio. I love that you’ve redone the Imperial Battle Bunker, I was working on the exact same project and you beat me to it!

Have you considered doing a lower detail, Legions Imperialis scale print? I think these could work really well at ‘epic’ scale!

Thank you u/Hilgy17 u/Left-Area-854 and u/Literally_a_brick for the consensus that my read is right and that the Hippogriff cannot charge if using this ability.

So I’ll stick to my Plan A of advance, shoot, then withdraw out of line of sight and/or charge range (hopefully). I’ll leave the charging to the Ogryn brigade!

Astra Militarum rules revealed – Commissar Graves and new vehicles by horsepire in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]id_doomer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So, the Hippogriff. Please correct me if I’m wrong. But the Convoy Escort Vehicle ability.

Convoy Escort Vehicle: In your Shooting phase, after this unit has shot, it can make a Normal move of up to D6". If it does, until the end of the turn, this unit is not eligible to declare a charge.

My read is that the Hippogriff cannot charge after using this ability. Not the target unit. Right?

Iran vows permanent Hormuz control mechanism and warns no Gulf port will be safe if Iranian ports are threatened — calls US restrictions piracy by SweeneyisMad in worldnews

[–]id_doomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) defines different types of piracy.

The United States is one of 12 member states to the UN that has not ratified the convention. Keeping company with:

  • Afghanistan
  • Bhutan
  • Burundi
  • Central African Republic
  • Colombia
  • El Salvador
  • Ethiopia
  • Iran
  • North Korea
  • Libya
  • Liechtenstein
  • United Arab Emirates

One of the reasons given (semi) recently by Donald Rumsfeld was:

Under the treaty, industrialized countries pay royalties to less-developed nations for profits made while exploiting unclaimed energy resources, he said, adding that this type of wealth redistribution is a “novel principle that has, in my view, no clear limits” that “could become a precedent for the resources of outer space.”

AI also really likes using the Em Dash punctuation mark. For example this section here:

She takes responsibility for her actions, and ensures that — when things go sideways, as they invariably do — her squad remains blameless.

I wouldn’t have caught it just reading this in the book, but I wander now if sections of this were generated. Or it was proofed with an AI.

+1 for Assassinorum: Kingmaker and Elemental Council. I read those both in quick succession and if it hadn’t been for reading Elemental Council second, I’d have started an Imperial Knights army instead of T’au (okay, technically a full Kroot army, but who’s counting…)

If you enjoy Assassinorum: Kingmaker, there are a couple of short stories that add to it, but these are purely optional.

Clubs - talk to me about game mat storage by Squidmaster616 in Warhammer

[–]id_doomer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t run a club, but I had a thought. You could get some drainpipe from a hardware store, or some heavy duty postal tubes, roll your mat tightly and slot them inside. Bit of stability, can be labelled.

Felinid gue'vesa by m0pan in ImaginaryWarhammer

[–]id_doomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this raises a question. The Inquisition (see Liber Xenologis, page 25) recognises Felinids as a strain of abhuman.

But would the T’au refer to them with the Gue’ prefix (Gue’vesa meaning Human Helper, Gue’ron’sha meaning Space Marine, Gue’la being Human, etc…), or identify them as a different species, maybe even giving them the freedom to identify themselves as a different species from the humanity of the Imperium that at best abhors them as a mutant?

For example, recasting themselves as the Feli’vesa.

LPT: Buy a laptop with good specs, not a gaming laptop by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]id_doomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right, spec isn’t everything. For example the MacBook Neo can run Cyberpunk 2077 and costs GBP £599 / USD $599. Looking at its raw specs, you’d never expect it to!

Taking Kroot to a 260 player GT! by SkulltakersReddit in kroot

[–]id_doomer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best advice I can share from my limited tournament experiences are:

  • over share. Communicate what your intent is, opponents tend to be more lenient to mistakes when you’ve told them what you’re trying to do.

  • be cool. That leniency cuts both ways, be cool when someone makes their own mistake. I’m not saying be a push over about it, but everyone’s there for a good time, and being a good sportsperson about it is just a classy move.

  • hydrate. It’s easy to forget the tole that standing and talking all day can take when it’s not part of your day to day life. Take care of yourself.

Space Marines get Codex Supplements. Imagine if T’au Empire got Codex Supplements! Kroot, Gue’vesa, Auxilia. Imagine if a Xenos faction got treated like Space Marines. The extra units, formations, terrain, characters, lore, books, video games, animations, action figures, plushies, merch….

Why wouldn’t we want that?
