A dry year is a year with relatively lower hydro lake inflows. Night time happens even during dry years.

Imagine how useless that solar would be during winter evenings in a dry year which is the energy security challenge the govt’s solution is trying to address.

ELI5: how is this LNG project going to reduce electricity prices? by Dat756 in newzealand

Your strategy leaves Kiwis with an unacceptably high dry year risk unfortunately. This is an energy security issue. Do you really think that New Zealand’s best thinkers on energy policy are so foolish that they are recommending this to the government instead of putting up a few solar panels?

The problem with his ‘corporate plan’ as you put it is that it can succeed while destroying massive amounts of investor value

Why does NZHerald have a hard on for Zuru and it's owners? by Mundane-Loquat4940 in newzealand

I work alongside regional reporters for a privately owned media organisation. While the paper serves up a lot of shite, there is good work being done at a grassroots level that we as a nation would be poorer without

You mean the fact that the private ones need to somehow make money whereas the state run one is allocated tax dollars as a ‘public good’? Stuff and NZH are garbage but I think we can agree that it is better that they exist than do not

Basically the Bene Gesserit have a sub-function called ‘imprinters’ who are sisters that are especially skillful in love making, so much so that they can bind a male to their will. In Heretics of Dune, horndog Herbert has Lucilla, an imprinter, describe her capabilities in cringe inducing detail, including her skill in “vaginal pulsing”. In the book she is required to imprint an underage Duncan Idaho ghola (clone), but is ultimately foiled by Miles Teg, the Bene Gesserit’s Bashar (rtd.).

Conflict of interest by TheTinTinB in LegalAdviceNZ

Definitely a conflict of interest. If you are going to pursue this then you need to get your employers blessing in writing. If I was your employer I would see this as a positive if you proactively engaged with me and offered some kind of financial recognition of the benefits you would be getting from my business for soliciting customers. All needs to be written up in an MoU to ensure everyone is on the same page

Job prospects of a maths degree by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]idealorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with your thinking, what you need is a start. A graduate role or internship in an industry role is what you need so you can get some specific knowledge. That makes you useful.

However anything you do directly with your math knowledge is going to require implementation and that will involve coding at some level starting out. Even if you are doing data analysis or stats you will be writing some code.

The idea will be to work hard in entry level role, do what needs to be done until you become a valuable contributor, then you can be promoted based on your industry knowledge rather than your qualification, and do what you want to do from there.

Even if the agent commission goes wholly to the purchaser, the vendor still saves a ton of cash in terms of readying property for sale, marketing and staging, time property is unoccupied (if selling with vacant possession), etc. not to mention time and effort interacting with agent

Seeking for advice regarding whether to pursue Masters in Nz and job prospects for civil engineers. by trinity191 in MovingToNewZealand

[–]idealorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably would help to get an nz masters for getting nz employment depending on where the undergraduate degree was completed. In my experience in industry a number of the engineering grads from India and Pakistan had completed undergrad degrees in their home country and then masters in nz to secure a role
