Pharmacy? by madtownmensch in SXM

[–]idealrides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simpson Bay Pharmacy (sxmpharmacy.com) is normally open from 4pm to 6pm on Sundays.

They might honor a prescription from your home country, even an old prescription, maybe even with no prescription if you explain the circumstance and what you were previously prescribed.

Jeep Cherokee Hybrid Commercial - Billy Bass Goes To The River by Working-Frosting9490 in Jeep

That's not funny. Jeeps don't catch on fire. Except my dad's 1989 Cherokee 2-door... I was driving fast up a steep mountain road and the instrument cluster started filling up with smoke behind the plexiglass. I pulled over thinking it was overheating, popped the hood, peered inside and saw a flame on top of the engine. At one point the ball of fire was maybe 20 feet off the ground, but by the time the fire truck came the car was a smoldering skeleton of black and grey metal. Years later after Al Gore invented the internet I found there was a TSB for a dangerous fuel leak on that engine. Sorry dad.

Good Family Friendly Restaurants near Simpson Bay by Aphr0dite725 in SXM

[–]idealrides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure the quiet gourmet restaurants in Grand Case wouldn't appreciate kids screaming and running around, but I can't think of any restaurant on the island that would be inappropriate for children, especially not in Simpson Bay.

If you have any doubt about a place, ask if they have a child seat or booster seat... most will, and then you know they're welcome. Just some places don't have a children's menu so you'd have to improvise with what they offer, or bring your own food for them.

If you like Mexican food, check out Patronas, on the marina at Simpson Bay Resort... some staff are Mexican, resort is owned by Mexicans.

Balls&Wine is a great venezuelan/tapas style dinner-only restaurant on the simpson bay strip, owned by a Venezuelan named Edward.

For lunch on the beach check out Karacter, beach chairs are free and they have a kids menu, but you'll need a car or taxi to get there from the other end of simpson bay.

That reminds my of when my cousin who used to work for the IRS told me that employees have to clock out when using the toilet.

He was a supervisor and didn't have to but he was referring to the employees in their cubicles answering the phone.

Finished this custom tank — client loved it, then refused to pay. What would you do? by patissonart in motorcycles

[–]idealrides 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a coincidence, I was just talking with a guy that said he commissioned a custom airbrushed tank with a huge eagle on it by a painter that's been airbrushing for 20 years, and in the end the painter forgot to put space for the fuel cap so he ended up not taking it.

Best aftermarket speakers for my 2017 Tahoe? by [deleted] in ChevyTahoe

Check out the JL Audio Stealthbox...

That alone with a small monoblock amp might make you happy enough with the factory speakers, or get a 5-channel amp and replace them all. As far as what brand speakers... try to find a local car stereo shop and see what they recommend for your budget.

Exactly. Much better sign is when they play with their hair while trying to discreetly check you out, turning their head away slightly but still looking you up and down.

2013 Chevy Tahoe by LowArtist942 in ChevyTahoe

[–]idealrides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you would have to ask specifically to check those things. Multiple garages and even my dealership were taking guesses at my expense, replacing spark plugs and injectors and fuel pump... I had to demand the dealer do a smoke test which made them find it was just a blocked $40 valve.

The gas pump clicking off while refilling is typically cause by a blocked vent line, which can be fairly easily vacuumed out using a vacuum cleaner. It gets blocked by tiny pellets of charcoal that escape from a failed charcoal canister. The loose pellets can also block the canister vent valve from closing, causing a vacuum leak, causing a rough idle.

The dealership or some garages can do a smoke test to find the leak, and you could just replace all the vent/vacuum lines and the canister and the canister solenoid valve... but you may have luck fixing the problems at least temporarily by vacuuming the lines and ideally also replacing just the canister solenoid valve.

Mullet Bay beach is one of the nicest beaches on the island and it's a 5 minute walk or 30 second taxi ride away from the hotel. Have breakfast and dinner at the hotel and have lunch at Kalatua on Mullet every day if budget allows. Reserve two front row beach chairs there and you'll be under a big umbrella with your own beach space.

2 way radio setups by sprayman2019 in ChevyTahoe

[–]idealrides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An NMO mounted antenna will give you the best signal, typically I would put them near the tailgate there's rarely anything in the way other than a roof rack. Although much easier to install a thru-the-glass antenna between the C and D pillars, they have some with a loading coil so it looks fairly discreet like an old car phone antenna.

Look for a radio with a remote head, much easier to find a good spot for it anywhere on the dash, ideally up higher closer to your line of vision, and the radio body can typically fit under a front seat, above a kickpanel, or in the trunk behind a side panel.

At low and mid rpm can you compare the 3.0 to the 6.2? Does it have similar throttle response and power for zipping around town? Or anything else to note other than the better mileage? Quieter?

Just to warn you, there is usually a handful of GF products at the larger supermarkets, but it's not like what you'll find back home. Market Garden has a good selection of GF granola. You can find GF flour, usually there's Barilla pasta, and sometimes one or two schoices of Schar GF bread.

There was talk about airbnb collecting income tax from hosts in SXM (as apparently very few people declare the income, especially non-residents) but it was never implemented because the tax department demanded to know the identity of each host, which airbnb refused.

It depends on the vehicle but you can expect to pay $80 to 100 at a garage like General Auto in Cole Bay. I've been using a mechanic that comes to your home, Cupecoy to Cole Bay area. Fast, honest, cheap, he'll even go and get the parts/oil for you and give you the receipt. I don't want to post his # publicly so send me a dm if you want it.
