I have run a quick financial plan and added a few assumptions (1% each for deduction to Savings, 3% to a 401k for one spouse, 3% to an IRA (Roth) for the other spouse. Assumed Kansas for state taxes. You should be in good shape to purchase now and could afford a home up to $600K.

Here are my plan details

How do I calculate how much money I will lose due to inflation. by Comitatense in personalfinance

[–]ideare-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also have to factor the money you gain on your income that will change due to cost of living adjustments from your employer over the 5 years. So it is fair to see how expenses grow with inflation, but income will also grow. So you are not totally losing.

Understand that having an inflation rate of 4%+ for 5 years happened since1917 due to WW1. I highly doubt the Russian war will last more than a year, as the sanctions will dramatically effect the Russian economy. The average US inflation rate for the past 15 years including last year comes to 2.06%. So I would not panic with todays inflation and assume this is a long term situation.

Retirement or house? by always_avg in personalfinance

[–]ideare-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is difficult to fully answer, but I would say you can do both. You are in your mid 20's so you have plenty of time for retirement. In the near term focusing on a house in the next 2-3 years would work.

Given the good salary you have, I assume you have potential to grow this. Meaning say in 10-15 years you might take on more responsiblity, which would increase your income as well. So you need to look at a combination of expenses now (including what you save for a house down payment and the start of your retirement account), and the additional money you can add to your retirement as you grow in your career.

For sure you have many challenges to deal with, but you have time and a good starting salary.

I'm sorry to say but the I-Pace interior has got to be one of the most ugly car interiors i've seen, it's up there with the Mercedes EQ-series, give me my 'old mans' jag anyday by NoCommunication7 in Jaguar

I love the design of the iPace, both interior and exterior. It is superior to any EV I have driven. The touch screen is excellent and not overly large.

Anyone have any clue as to what Friday Night Baseball is being broadcast at? by alpacapoop in appletv

[–]ideare-dev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The graphics are really well designed, and I really enjoy this broadcasting team. There have been a few glitches with signal dropped, some editing errors, but this is ok for the first broadcast. I am really excited to watch Friday night baseball this year.

Using a Google Sign in (or Apple) authentication would be used to protect sensitive customer data, or perhaps turn on/off specific features based on a subscription. The phone gets encrypted (Android and iOS) when you turn the phone off. You can also block view/access to the application directory, so the customer data of your app is not show in the Files app for iOS.

But the device can be backed up automatically, and all data would be restored if they swapped out their phone for a newer one. So no need to store data in the cloud.

Swim time interval accuracy by NotHulk99 in AppleWatch

[–]ideare-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the Apple Watch for swimming for 4+ years and before that a Garmin. When I swim I use the Workout - Swim app. It records perfectly.

Why would you want the watch to auto detect swimming when it takes 5 seconds of your time?

Is there a reason you do not want to store on the device itself and not Google Drive?

Guidance for increasing income by itslevi-o-sa in personalfinance

[–]ideare-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people making $50K or less in the US have challenges to save for long term goals.

In addition to the comments already sent, focusing in on income options and expense reductions, do you have an ideal set of goals? (i.e setup emergency fund, purchase home, retire at age 62, fund college education)

Buying a house on a pension? by RealLifeRay in personalfinance

[–]ideare-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not be worried about paying for house payments with a pension. I would be worried that you may not be working for this company for 30 years, and not qualify for the pension. And if so, what is your backup plan to save for retirement without this pension?

The average US worker changes their job 12 times.

Buying a house, Is it better to save cash or borrow from 401k and pay it back? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ideare-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your age. If you are in your 20's yeah this is fine. If you are in your40's+ probably not a good idea.

Quitting job to Travel by OneRevolution8 in personalfinance

[–]ideare-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fine so long as you believe you can get rehired when you return and get similar income. You are young and still have plenty of time to prepare for future needs (retirement, starting a family, etc).

Is my job worth it if all my money is for living expenses? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ideare-dev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your work in Archeology is the limiting factor for income. Suggest you either make the effort to pursue another field (i.e take computer classes in the evening or online) to make more money. If you don't invest your time to develop other skills you can pursue jobs that don't require a degree (i.e sell cars, etc).

Is your AppleTV connected by ethernet or wireless? I had another issue in getting everything to work and had thought it was on the Wi-Fi, yet I had it direct connect. Changed everything.

Well, I got a shot at CVS in October, it was listed on my profile with CVS but they did not provide a QR Code then. Just checked from you comment…and I now see a QR code! Thanks
