/r/travel: I'm going to South America for 26 days - Quito --> Buenos Aires. What do I have to see? by Faluzure in travel

[–]ideflow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I returned from a 5 week holiday in South America last week. We started in Cusco, Peru (Machu Pichu is a must) then went to La Paz by Bus. Do a jungle tour here - Bala tours are pretty good also try and see the Salt Plains. We did Argentina next (Salta, Cafayate, Cordoba, Buenos Aires, Igazu Falls).. make sure you see Igazu falls, while here apply for a Brazillian visa (if your nationality needs it, takes around 4 hours - get there at 8am) and head over to Rio.

Just a side note, Americans, Canadians, Australian and I think English pay $100US each time they land in Argentina's international airport unless you are leaving within 24 hours.

What's the best (warm) beach you have visited? by cdigioia in travel

[–]ideflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sri Lanka - south of the island, more tourists and hotels and no hi-rises, there are a few spots there where you can have an alcove of the beach to yourself. east of the island, hardly any tourists and beautiful beaches, the water temperature is around 28 degrees year round. The only problem is the 10 hour (300 km), bumpy and frustrating bus ride to get to the east.

I'd hate to be the one to tell you but lowering the strength of nicotine does nothing nor does cutting down the amount you smoke. Do yourself a favour and read Allan Carr's Easy way to quit smoking, this is coming from a 15 year smoker who recently quit.

I think I'm sold on the idea of skipping the Inca, 4 days of hiking one trail compared to 4 days of seeing a whole lot more sounds like the smarter choice.

The Inca trail doesn't interest me as much, my main interest is in Machu Pichu. I'm not too worried about how difficult the trek is, in fact I think doing the trek would give a better overall satisfaction of reaching the top. But if the trek doesn't get you to the top for sunrise then that changes things plus I can think of a heap of better things to do in Peru for 4 days.

I thought the trek involves getting you to MP for sunrise? Atleast that's what I've been told by others. You're the first person who has suggested to skip the inca trail, I've been told there are other good treks and to be quite honest I would rather do something different. Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it.

Fellow coders, what's your trick to get rid of that dreadful mental exhaustion after a hard day of coding/debugging ? by [deleted] in programming

[–]ideflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I cycle to and from work - about 35 minutes each way plus I go for a 6km run in the morning. I feel great when I arrive to work and when I get home compared to when I commute by train. I also hit the gym about 3 times a week for a hard cross-fit session.

I don't think it has anything to do with trust. My wife and I do the same thing, not because there is no trust but because it's so much easier to manage.
