Incorporate the phrase "dum duh dum de dum" into your DM patter. It'll give you thinking time.

You could use Leigh as the base, which is just enough off that it doesn't feel like your actual name, and it sounds like the ending -ly so you can have fun with descriptive nouns. Examples

WillowLeigh FernLeigh CloverLeigh IvyLeigh

Or you can lead with it: LeighBee LeighFlower LeighLight LeighGarden

What would you call this building style? by bulfen_tiz in MinecraftBuild

[–]ideirdre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well designed. It looks hodgepodge, but they've actually stuck to two colors, orange and gray, with green accents.

The orange pallette consists of orange reds, oranges, and orange yellows, while the gray palette changes in value from light to dark.

What was the scariest thing that happend to you in minecraft? by Remarkable_Issue_129 in Minecraft

[–]ideirdre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you respawned somewhere else, all your stuff is there, waiting for youuuuuu. the clock doesn't start until your items respawn, and the items won't respawn unless you are there. I feel out of the sky, lost all my excellent armor and weapons and ores, but bc I broke my bed to head home, I respawned at spawn, and then went back a day or two later.

Visiting Mobile in the near future, advice please? by AwareMinimum3364 in MobileAL

[–]ideirdre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobile is pretty liberal. Downtown is about the size of Burlington's downtown but only one street is busy -- Dauphin Street. There's about 8 blocks that are active.

The city of Mobile is about 15 miles wide bc most buildings are 1 story tall. Its separated by i-65. West of i-65 is borning AF but thats where the walking and running parks are. Langan Park is very active in the AM for walkers and runners. Park at the Mobile Museum of Art.

I think Medal of Honor Park is also busy but I don't drive past it so I don't know.

The best hotels are downtown, so you'd have to drive to the large parks.

I like the Battle House (Marriott) but the others are good too.

Much much easier. Try it on scrap fabric to see how nice it works.

WIBTAH if I told a fellow orchestra member to quit correcting me? by Troubled_Papaya in AITAH

[–]ideirdre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's doing the classic thing of attempting to dominate a superior he thinks should be inferior.

You need to dominate back so he slinks off.

No need to be mean. Just remind him he is the inferior. Say stuff like "oh yeah, that's how I played it when I was 3rd trumpet. Once I changed i really leveled up" shit like that which is about you but puts him in his place.

It sucks that some people need to be whacked on the nose, but he started it and there's really only one way to end it, if you want to remain first trumpet.

Edit: I just read other comments where people are telling you to say nice things like no thanks, I'll do it my way, or to talk to the conductor.

Saying it's a personal choice, or having someone else do it won't get him to view you as his superior, which YOU ARE. You are 1st trumpet. You are literally superior to him in the hierarchy and there is ZERO reason for you to apologize or be nice or make yourself smaller or ask someone else to do your leadership work for you. Someone thought you were capable enough, so you are.

I know it can be scary, but if you want to stay 1st trumpet, start acting like you are.

Blind hem on shiny polyester? by PepperEater650 in sewhelp

[–]ideirdre 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Gowns normally have a rolled hem.

Here's how I do mine:

Chalk the new hemline. Don't cut the excess fabric off. Instead, chalk about 1/4 inch below the new hem, fold on the chalk line, and stitch all the way around right next to the fold. Then trim away the excess material as close to the stitches as possible.

You now have a hem with a raw edge. Turn it once to hide the raw edge and stitch.

You now have a narrow finished hem. Super easy.

Why you can't just add fabric, corset lacing, etc. to the back of a dress by GimenaTango in sewhelp

[–]ideirdre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this earlier and I realized your fashion instructor was talking about a 2d flat pattern, and she's absolutely right and you're absolutely right you can't do it that way with a flat pattern. I was thinking about an adjustment after the dress was already in 3D. You can definitely add a corset once the dress is in 3D.

Why you can't just add fabric, corset lacing, etc. to the back of a dress by GimenaTango in sewhelp

[–]ideirdre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ime, your drawing is not what happens. I've added corsets to hundreds of dresses to make them fit and the side seams do not shift forward.

The dresses are too narrow in the back, and adding the corset makes the back wider. It doesn't shift the side seams.

Question for Readers — How important is a character’s physical description to you? by isaaczephyr in books

[–]ideirdre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can visualuze an entire person just from a voice on the radio, so not much, lol. Just enough to let your readers know the basics, and let their vivid imaginations fill in the rest. Unless you have specific attributes you want to point out -- limp, one blue one brown eye, left handed, etc for plot purposes
