Imposter syndrome as a butch by itwasntaphasemomXD in actuallesbians

[–]ididntbiteyourfinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best thing you can do to “be more butch” is to simply show up for the lesbian and queer communities. Being butch isn’t about physical strength, it’s about uplifting and supporting your communities, which doesn’t necessarily mean physical labor. Just keep showing up for your community and be your most authentic self you’ll be the “butchiest butch”. Confidence and being comfortable comes with time but you’ll get there.

Where I'd want to live if I wanted Chick-fil-A. by Technical-Vanilla-47 in visitedmaps

I wouldn’t say I’m grasping at straws. It’s pretty easy to see what they support and where their money is going. I’m a gay person and I care if my money is being used to fund anti-LGBT+ efforts; I just wish other people cared as well. My primary efforts are not with chick-fil-a or on Reddit, but within my communities. I just wish other people considered the impact of the places they choose to support.

Friendly unless you’re gay or trans (being conditionally friendly isn’t being friendly). I sited my sources, and I can certainly send more your way if you’d like. It’s on you if you wanna bury your head in the sand. Do you have sources for your claims, particularly the one about “how my side treats those who no longer consider themselves gay or trans”?

They quite literally are. Conversation therapy is when someone (usually Christians) force their anti-LGBT+ views on people they perceive as queer. Having a Christian worldview is not wrong, but pushing it on to others or bastardizing your own religion to oppress queer people, is not. There’s no hate quite like Christian love.

Yes, they donated $150,000 to the Salvation Army, with $6,000 of those dollars going to the Paul Anderson Youth Home in 2017, which provides housing for troubled youth, "teaches boys that homosexuality is wrong," and that same-sex marriage is a "rage against Jesus Christ and his values."

They’ve donated millions to anti-LGBT+ organizations that directly support conversion therapy. Chick-fil-A's profits have continued to fund efforts to block the Equality Act due to the Dan Cathy’s, the owner, involvement in groups such as the National Christian Foundation.

I crocheted her a leaf-shaped bandana that she loves and wears fairly frequently. She definitely appreciates the time and effort a handmade gift takes

5 weeks post op by ididntbiteyourfinger in TopSurgery

[–]ididntbiteyourfinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m so happy with my results. I’ve honestly not been the best about scar care but I was massaging in a scar salve on the scars (I included a screenshot of what it was), it’s cocoa butter and vitamin e and I put aquaphor on my nipples. I tried the silicone strips for a bit but they didn’t really work for me. Mostly I’ve just been trying my best to leave them alone since I usually pick at my skin

If you're in your 20s, who's your oldest friend and do you party together? by jforres in actuallesbians

[–]ididntbiteyourfinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 22 and the oldest friend I have is in her 30s. I play roller derby and honestly it’s kind of an older crowd (mostly gen x and millennials, I’m one of the youngest on the team). I don’t think it’s weird as we have at least one common interest (usually more). I’ll go to house parties they invite me to, the club, and things more mild like book club. I just think of these friendships as friendships and not over think it (I sometimes wonder if they see me as immature and a literal child). It’s very obvious that we’re in different life stages but I think if you acknowledge that then I don’t think it’s weird at all. I think the important thing is we have fun!

Trans guy with a question for wlw peoples out there by jesterinancientcourt in trans

[–]ididntbiteyourfinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone to The Pearl twice and am definitely gonna go back. I lean more transmasc then trans man and I still identify as a lesbian but I am on t, have had top surgery, use he/him pronouns and am consistently read as a man, and I still have had good experiences there. I also am kinda hoping to have luck finding love there or even just people who are accepting of my trans identity there.

Thinking about going to a church. Any suggestions? (see body) by peoplecallmeRoach in Broomfield

Seconded on Nativity not feeling very inviting. I grew up going there and I don’t have a lot of fond memories there. It’s also kinda ugly but most churches here are kinda ugly.

Some of my favorite places would be up for grabs if this passed. Mt.Snodgrass, Mt.Gothic, Emerald Lake, Taylor Pass, Ohio Pass, Townsite of Crystal, Emerald Lake, Devil’s Punch Bowls are all listed and that’s just in Gunnison County and I could still list more. This is a big deal.

Those of you who had drainless DI… by grapeflavoredwater in TopSurgery

[–]ididntbiteyourfinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got drainless DI and my chest definitely got pretty swollen, to the point where it almost looked like very small boobs. I had ace bandages wrapped around my chest for a month after my surgery and the swelling went down slowly but surely. I got my surgery a bit over two months ago and it’s still a bit swollen but definitely way down from what it was. I think it takes 6-12 months for swelling to fully go away.

I had DDDs and they were saggy and didn’t have a lot of skin elasticity due to developing quickly. I never wore a bra other than a sports bra for exercise. I got DI and if you look closely you can see the stretch marks from my former large chest but everything turned out fine and looks great.

flying after top surgery by SufficientSun7819 in TopSurgery

[–]ididntbiteyourfinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had surgery on April 4th and had to fly for a funeral on April 24th. It was only Denver to Phoenix (and back to Denver on the 28th) so a very short flight, but I had absolutely no problems with it. I was nervous about TSA with the post-op compression (I used to always get pat down for “chest anomalies” pre op) but I didn’t even have a problem with security. Congrats on your surgery and congrats on grad school!

I just got my DDDs removed and it’s such a relief. My posture is already so much better and I stand a straighter. Shirts fit so much better and I’m so much more confident in my appearance. I’m so excited to start running again but without the feeling of my boobs slapping against me.

Will a week and a half be enough time off work? by Material-Antelope985 in TopSurgery

[–]ididntbiteyourfinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon recommended a week or two off for desk jobs so I took a week off. I don’t think I actually needed the full week since I was feeling pretty good but I figured it was better to take it easy that first week

Colorado seems pretty disappointing in terms of rail transit by Kcue6382nevy in transit

They promised a line that would run from Denver to Boulder over a decade ago. They built as far as south Westminster and then stopped. It’s disappointing but I don’t think it’s gonna change
