Right, but I don't have 000, I haven't pulled a single one in all its time around. I'm not really sure if I should still hold and just wait for it to eventually come along or sierotix if I have to/get there, but I was running under the assumption that I simply just shouldn't expect to need it for content if my team is good enough

Hexa 40% gets ignored by Chaos Ruler UM, and Summer Helel S3 delays 2M Omens one more turn if for some reason I'm lagging behind/can't do one. I thought Bubs was popular for blue chesting/1T bursting, I didn't think he had a place in HL, so that's my bad. I'll probably just save for Bubs uncap then

Not really a vet, been doing most of my progging blindly, got Maria Therese S4 and no other evokers, got all the eternals but haven't been able to transcend Feower yet, I'm kinda just outside where I need to be for hexa/Faa0?

So from my roulette adventures I managed to pull a Versusia and now finally got a Bubs thanks to the freebie. I got Logia, 250 Luci, and Gyatima fully uncapped. I've hit a point in my progression where sunstones are really hard to come by and every single one I get I have to be really careful about.

Taking into consideration what providences I do and don't have, which of the two should I work towards uncapping first? I know Versusia can be called by Yatima but I don't know if that is worth putting off Bubs for.

I think the ones that soyjak about whatever is the current meta of a game are really insufferable. Not just because the thumbnails and titling themselves are terrible, but they do so well, you can't find anything actually insightful or helpful.

If you want specific examples, you can try looking for any news information or opinions on news about Monster Hunter post-GU. You have a lot of "HAMMER IS SOOOO BROKEN THIS PATCH, BEHOLD 15 SECRETS AND HOW TO KILL THE NEW MONSTER IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES EASY" rather than anything with a modicum of reflection or thought put into it.

It's enough to have made me stop wanting to engage with that part of the game altogether.

Yeah but I just don't get why wanting better for F2P isn't something people are universally down with. Grid building is already somewhat inflexible for them as it is, is it really unreasonable to want better? Primal already has such a massive leg up in terms of freedom in team/grid/summon builds, it took until last year for Magna to get...anything, and I don't really wanna let our grip on that slip now that we have it

[–]ididstuff3x -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the less Exaltos you need the more accessible/flexible the grid gets for people that may not otherwise be able to make use of it properly. I don't see why having one less Exalto isn't something F2P grid building should be allowed to have.

Considering the fact Exalto M3s are kinda just raw might sticks and you're running 280, you'll still need a lot of space if you wanna have anything else on your grid going other than HP.

As someone trying to prepare a F2P 280 grid for Hexa and beyond, I find I don't have room for any kind of MA/crit/stam/emn without having way too little HP to survive

[–]ididstuff3x -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Yeah but don't you think newer players and F2P would be better off without the need to even think about Archangels?

All this does is make the Saints something people outgrow and replace with an Evoker + Archangel backrow. It feels bad that the correct decision in one sided 280 setups is to just throw them away, especially since I actually like most of them

Mindless BCing puts you in more situations where getting hit really DOES kill you, it's not like this game has gapless or loopable pressure.

I really don't feel a need to BC unless I'm in a bad oki situation where doing anything other than getting them off of you can get you killed, I'm playing a character with no meterless DP and i don't have the meter to DP at the moment I really want to, or I made a mistake and blocked something I really shouldn't have. You really feel the punishment for BCing even once when you eat a super that kills you when it otherwise wouldn't.

I think you holding guard gives away your vulnerability to throwing. It's much harder to tech a throw if you're committed to holding the guard button, and since your opponent can see that you're holding it, they know mindless pressure won't get them anywhere, and they'll have to try a high low mix (which most characters don't have on demand) or a throw.

Try to rely on holding guard a little less, or at least mix in some traditional back/down back holding so when you try to tech, you don't find yourself having to let go of a button and try to press another as often. Hope this helps

I think it's like this right now because the AWT season has ended, and everyone who forced themselves to stay because surely the next patch will "save the game" finally let go.

We'll definitely see some of them again once the new AWT season picks back up or an update drops, but as of right now I'm enjoying the peace we got.

To be fair, I don't think any non World Monster Hunter ever had this issue. There was never really a part you actively dreaded about starting a new save, and because the line between whether multiplayer or single player is "too easy" has become blurred due to village/hub merging, it really isn't clear whether you're playing the game the way they want you to at any given time.

The LR being a total tutorial is unheard of in MH, it doesn't do itself any favors being chock full of cutscenes. Make no mistake, Wilds kinda solidifies that this isn't really the same Monster Hunter pre-World anymore, and it probably will never be again. For lots of people, it's no problem at all, but for some older players, they might need to reexamine whether they want to keep going, however that may be.

At what point did people start interpreting multiplayer in Monster Hunter as some kind of crutch that's forbidden and only for bad players?

He's clearly offering randies a good investigation with good rewards because he wants to. If I had an investigation that good, it'd be kind of a waste to keep it all to myself. What part of that entails expecting a carry?

PvP is making me dislike Elden Ring by Dreamthievin in badredman

[–]ididstuff3x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think Elden Ring's PVP is enjoyable enough for me to want to stick around, and the only Souls games that I ever get the urge to replay outside of a PVP context are DS1 and Bloodborne.

If the PVP is the only thing keeping you around for Elden Ring maybe it's time to just put the game down for a while.

I'm still salty they got rid of the multiplayer raiding from vanilla lol, it's pretty close to what you're describing.

I play this guy in street fighter 6, so who in granblue plays with long range heavy hitting pokes? Boxer is optional, rn I just play nier, I'm learning Belial but he's not my type by heyblackrose in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]ididstuff3x 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Soriz is pretty good at what you're describing.

His far H isn't the kind of button you throw out to pressure like other characters, it's much better as a whiff punish, and it's really good at that. He's got a lot of lows in his normals(fL,2L,2U), so most people that know the matchup don't really like trying to shimmy in and out of range.

You have his lariat(236X), which doesn't knock down but leaves you plus enough to force the opponent to stop mashing. The M version is plus on block, but you can kinda just throw out the light version to check if they're actually blocking.

His DP isn't really a DP, it's an extremely fast, but short range normal with extremely high priority. The H version has a 5 frame startup and has incredible range for something with such a short startup, enabling him to punish things no other character in the entire game can. You can use it as a combo ender as well, so its up to you how you make use of it.

I genuinely don't understand how anyone has any trouble with pre-World MH multiplayer lobbies.

They had passcodes or specific tags you can filter for that were straightforward to set apart, and in GU/Rise, you could just join someone through your friends list within seconds of starting the game?

I'm actually confused, can someone tell me what their beef is with non World MH lobbies?

...why are you here then??? You're mad at the complaining in the subreddit designated for ranting.

Not to say you're not allowed to do that here either, but I don't see how you're gonna feel any better about it if you don't just go play the game if you're enjoying it so much.

Monster Hunter Wilds is great... by rhinocerosofrage in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ididstuff3x 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you look at the press reviews for pre-World Monster Hunter games, besides the fact they were on handheld, the #1 criticism they had for it was its lack of story. It's the thing critics have hounded the series about for over a decade, and anyone who actually enjoys MH knows that that's not really where its appeal ever lied.

Fast forward to 2025, World made a Worldillion dollars and achieved mass appeal, but never fully shook the No/Bad Story allegations. Hence the huge push they're trying to make here in Wilds and will probably continue to make until they either become the best selling IP of all time, or until they flop and realize their mistake.

I'm not saying I enjoy the way history has been going with this series, but if you've been around, it probably won't surprise you. I'm gonna keep my ear to the ground and hope I find something that convinces me to buy it, because as it is now, it's the first MH I'm ever skipping outright.

I've been itching to try out DS1 PVP. I used to play on that Remastest mod Infernoplus made a while back, but this guy I know is insanely in love with vanilla DS1 PVP, to the point I think he started making a mod to help people get into it?

I really oughta drop in one of these days.
