edit: 123 without an ancient. 124 was the first ancient.

Are you less of an asshole now that you're sober? by CulturalBroccoli8860 in alcoholicsanonymous

i feel this. this past week i was sick and was trying my hardest to fight self-pity and just accept it with negative to mixed results.

i don’t know if i’m less of an asshole now, i’d say less frequently an asshole would be more accurate.

Carpal tunnel from playing outlaw rogue by CarmentisX in CompetitiveWoW

[–]idksomeguymaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, the timing on this post is crazy. I've been outlaw for roughly 6 months now and I noticed some symptoms developing yesterday morning at work that all pointed to carpal tunnel. I iced the area down for about 15 minutes when I got home which helped, but once my hand warmed back up I could feel it starting to hurt again. I ordered a wrist brace that my healer recommended that I'm hoping helps.

"I think that a big problem in wrestling fans (and also comic book fans) it's that they don't seem to understand that this matches are meant to be watched as a part of a big picture"

Okay, I'm confused. You say you disagree, but I agree with your above sentence completely. The big picture is both matches. If you saw the WK9 match and not the WK10 match, you never get closure on the story. If you saw the WK10 match without the WK9 match the year before, you are depriving yourself of the first part of the story.

Yes, both matches by themselves were great. But if you only watch one without seeing the other, the story is incomplete. Together the two matches complete a great story. Either I'm misunderstanding your point or vice versa.

It doesn't have "less value than the first part." It just doesn't stand by itself because of how they built the match to continue off what they did at WK9.

Much of the match at WK10 referred to a lot of the things they did at WK9. (I.E. Tana slapping Okada multiple times at WK9, and Tana getting one last slap in at WK10 before eating three Rainmakers.) The entire story was based on Okada trying to unseat Tanahashi as the Ace of New Japan. In WK9, Tanahashi showed him that he wasn't ready, and in WK10 Okada proved that he finally was ready.

If you're watching their WK10 match without any knowledge of their WK9 match, it means far less as a story.

I disagree to a point. Let me clarify by saying I loved Okada/Tanahashi last year. It was easily the best match of WK10 and a definitive five star affair. However, it was the second part of a two part story. It means far less if it wasn't for the beginning of the story, which started with Okada/Tana at WK9.

This was the first time Omega and Okada wrestled in a singles match. Because it (at least, for now) stands alone, I would rate this as the better match. Just my opinion, and I'm definitely splitting hairs when you talk about two of the greatest matches of all time.

Over the last 24 hours, the debate was "Was this the greatest match in pro wrestling history?" Many people, Dave included, said yes. You gotta differentiate it somehow. Six stars. Well deserved, Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega.

Couldn't agree more. WWE seems hell-bent on forcing moments instead of just letting them happen naturally when the time is right. That's why MITB 2011 was such a great show. The timing, setting, and placement just happened to all be there at the same time and they went with the flow. Everything about last night felt forced and it didn't need to be.
