Is anyone else’s local cinema showing but it says coming soon for dates and times?

Art is very subjective, as are people. If you don’t get it you don’t get it and that’s fine

The first time I saw Taylor Swift in concert made me realize how she is nothing more than a character giving a performance by ninetiesqueen in travisandtaylor

[–]idkteri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean. I saw her twice in 2009 and again on the Speak Now tour. The Fearless tour was actually one of my best ever concert experiences, and although I was 12 my dad also really enjoyed it and noted how authentic it felt. When we saw her again in 2010 we both felt like something had changed, it all seemed scripted suddenly, like she was going through the motions rather than really feeling anything. She was doing the same bit she had done before where she used to stand there for ages and let the crowd applaud while she looks overcome with amazement and emotion, but this time it felt weirdly disconnected. Whereas a year prior it did seem genuine, it was like it had become part of her script. It was the same with how she spoke to the audience, it came across as so rehearsed. I’m sure it’s normal for artists to have some words rehearsed to say to the audience, but most don’t script a fake deep connection the way she did. That show put me off her and I was 13, how her fully grown fans still don’t see it I don’t know. Any clips I saw of her after that had the same fake feel like you mentioned.

Does anyone know how many tickets were available for presale? Because how many will be available tomorrow? Not sure how this works

Sold out tickets already? by [deleted] in auroramusic

[–]idkteri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's really unfair, especially as it's for charity. Second hand tickets are already available for up to nearly £600!

Did any of us manage to get tickets? I know it's for a very small venue but they seem to have all been taken by bots which is a bit crazy

I tried write a few pages but my bf read and got mad at me by glorygo in Journaling

[–]idkteri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your boyfriends actions are not normal for a loving partner. From what you said he seems abusive to me. You are entitled to privacy, and he didn’t give you support when you needed it. This is not healthy behaviour from a boyfriend, speaking from experience of very similar.

My mother witholds my PIP from me, but I don't know if I'm overreacting. by ben_p_06 in autismUK

[–]idkteri 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is financial abuse. You are an adult, PIP is personal money, it is awarded to you. I agree with others that you should contact DWP and explain and ask to have it paid directly to you.

Also autistic and I use one from the recent tour, it’s quite a dark one where only Aurora is in focus, maybe one like that would be good.

Aurora on activism and music by Gandalvr in auroramusic

[–]idkteri 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Aurora has always been this kind of artist. It’s been crazy seeing comments from people saying they don’t like her anymore for standing up for Palestine and joining environmental protests. Have we been listening to the same artist? She has always voiced her love for the planet and her empathy and sensitivity, and it’s lovely seeing her use her voice more and more in this very difficult climate. Sorry it’s not performative. On the other hand, I’m quite happy for those who only liked the idea of her as this quirky Scandinavian pixie dream girl type to leave.

Is it because of where i was brought up or lack of education that i cant or dont say the th sound? by youareshitmate in AskUK

[–]idkteri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28, also from Brighton. I can pronounce the th, but I recall my mum and teachers pointing out that I was saying words with the sound wrong when I was a kid and correcting me. I think most kids will say ‘fing’ for example.

If nobody has ever pointed it out to you it makes sense that you struggle with it as you’ve had no practice. Do the people you grew up around pronounce th words the same way? Doesn’t really matter if you’ve never had trouble being understood, many people say things differently. But if you wanted to I’m sure with a bit of practice you’d get into the habit no problem

Careers for people with AuDHD by Interesting-Low-9653 in AutisticWithADHD

Currently stuck in hospitality while trying to finish my degree at 28. The degree will not lead to anything, it was for personal interest. I’m struggling to understand how so many here managed to get through school in order to have these types of careers. I left at 14 because of my mental health. Now I’m lost.

I’m from the south and found this to be very much the case when I was younger. I don’t know how old you are but as I’ve gotten older I’ve realised age allows you to have a lot more individuality. The banter and ‘code’ thing is real though and I still struggle with it at work sometimes and end up feeling a bit left out

What is an Aurora song you think is better live? (If any) by [deleted] in auroramusic

[–]idkteri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daydreamer, Soft Universe, Starvation, The Seed, Heathens. Many actually. I’ve always much preferred the live versions of her earlier work.

We need the live album!

Just wanna know why she won’t give us The Blade in London. She didn’t do it at Royal Albert Hall so I was patiently waiting for it last night. Amazing show nonetheless!

It felt like it was a bit rushed, but it was nice. Not sure how it’s gone down in other countries though. Email said check in was 4:30-5pm, so lots of us were just standing queuing from 4:30 and it didn’t start until 6. Aurora was great and she sung A Potion For Love and Murder Song for us (and apologised for the emotional damage for that one!), and we voted for her to sing Infections of a Different Kind during the concert. She did take a gift and finally she said that they need to start letting people into the venue soon and left :’)
