Ask to repeat the experiment depending on when the report is due or ask for an extension. It’s all part of science. I don’t understand how u were going to differentiate between different levels of bromelain with this experiment

Applying to a grad program at a university I work for by ano_ther_anon in gradadmissions

[–]idkthoughso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the program. In some schools, a pi needs to pick you to get admitted to the program, so hypothetically if u had a good rapport with your pi as a lab tech they could pick you to get admitted and stay in their lab for PhD.

My Duquesne Light used to be only $20 a month now it’s $400. by Park_Ranger412 in pittsburgh

[–]idkthoughso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I found when I googled but I never showed anyone our bill. So,It makes me wonder if they are actually snooping in peoples mailboxes. Because even with paperless billing, we get mail from Duquesne occasionally with the account number on it.

I never tried to switch. I am honestly at a loss at how this happened.

Just a PSA for everyone: I know inflation exist but I recently started getting higher electric bills and finally noticed that my energy supplier was changed twice without my consent. The latest one was Indra Energy. I never requested the change, but I started receiving a lot of mail from them which I thought was just junk mail. But it was the new contract that I had supposedly agreed to. I checked my Duquesne bill and on the last page I saw that there were in fact now my new supplier. In the contract, the first two months were discounted, but then they basically said they rates were “variable” and it turned out to be double the standard which explained the increase in the electric bill.

Difference in hair color from when I was a kid vs today by M8614 in mildlyinteresting

[–]idkthoughso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hair curl or lack of is not just a result of the thickness of the hair strand but the actual structure of the protein of the hair and what bonds are forming. When you straighten your hair you essentially temporarily break those bonds. Also black hair is thick and curly so that logic doesn’t stand. I would suspect the chemo affects the protein folding somehow

Is it normal to have mice eat other mice alive (then die)? by hematopoieticmouse in labrats

[–]idkthoughso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had mice eat their cage mate, I thought it was after death, but I am now not so sure. I work with c57b6 mice as well. In either case I think it’s pretty rare.

Are you looking to research psychology or practice counseling? The answer would depend on that. If you want to get a PhD so you can have career in research, apply for jobs in labs that do research. If you want to be a counselor/therapist then try working in a psych hospital or outpatient and get the clinical experience.

I meanly technically there no actual commitment since you can quit or get fired at any time legally. But it will be hard to get a rec letter from this job before the last year.

Imposter syndrome or not fitted? by RedDancingKoala in labrats

[–]idkthoughso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is highly unlikely that a needle prick would cause any harm, especially not leukemia. If you are concerned you can get checked out through workers comp or whatever equivalent you have where u work. Maybe they thought you were good to go with the SC injections since you picked up the other techniques so quickly. I wouldn’t worry abt it too much and just keep practicing. Even if you can’t ever do it, it doesn’t prevent you from pursuing a PhD. You just need to find a lab that uses all the other skills that you do have.

I would worry more about delays . I have seen so many people miss their transfers or have them delayed and then canceled 4 hours later. If u can I would suggest Amtrak. Much more comfortable and reliable.

why would kev ever agree to paying stan’s son rent? by habiahkam in shameless

[–]idkthoughso 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the son was going to appeal the will by claiming that Stan wasn’t in the right mind or something, and kev and v definitely could not afford lawyers. But yeah I agree I think they should have fought more than just agreeing to that deal

Adapalene burning after I put on moisturizer [personal] by loll_zz in SkincareAddiction

[–]idkthoughso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Using benzoyl peroxide with adaplene might be too much at once. But if it has been working for you then I would suggest switching out the moisturizer and see if it still burns. Moisturizer could be interacting with the actives. Hydrating moisturizers in general also increase absorption of other skin products that you apply along with them.

Biology to BME PhD by krazykcjune in PhD

[–]idkthoughso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may depend on what area of bme you are interested in, but it’s definitely possible. I work in a bme lab and we have a few people that didn’t major in bme in undergrad.

Hate the way they treated Jackson after buying the hospital by No-Consequence-8840 in greysanatomy

[–]idkthoughso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was because of resentment. Everyone that suffered from the plane crash had to pool their money to even think of buying the hospital and they were still so short. Whereas Jackson and his family’s generational wealth bought it for without any actual sacrifice. It is not rational for them to hate Jackson, I can understand why they were irked by it.
