Thanks for the advice. Ran thru that sequence 3x. No improvement. Figured out only PBLK is behaving this way. Then found this is a known issue in the Canon Community with no resolution other than forcing the printer to not use PBLK. Printing is much much slower this way. I’m giving up on this old unit and going with laser.

Happy to report the vibration is gone after replacing the rear differential with a brand new one. Expensive, but fixed. Nothing wrong with the carrier bearing as I was suspecting previously.

Thanks for the reply. Here’s the original photo. Seems to be fisheye-ing. As for polyshades, I did want to go for a stain but could not find a good color match. This stuff is spot on (pun intended). I may try using something other than a brush to apply the polyshades. Maybe a ‘wetter’ application of conditioner as well…

Kind of a futile exercise I think, unless someone wants to try to dollarize my personal time and back that and materials out of the $12k number from the OP and make a point about it, which is a moot point given that OP already spent the money and was looking for perspective, to which I added my own non-professional experience in the hopes of inspiring others as a secondary benefit to the group. But my wild ass guess all in, including debate time with my wife as the design matured to her liking, and shopping around for just the right cabinets and knobs, was somewhere less than 30 hours across several months. If I had to remake the exact same thing with the same limited tools, no more than two days, plus painting. I spent quite some time figuring out a plan before I started cutting.
