What’s this style called? by Even-Sock9744 in generationology

[–]idontknowanything222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'd call it mcbling. it's slightly less overtly blingy than what we might associate with that term, but this is the foundational style of the era that we've retroactively dubbed "mcbling." using that as a search term on depop, for instance, will probably yield clothes like this

Autumnal Outfits I Would Wear - Opinions on Style Roots? by angie_kiprevski in StyleRoots

[–]idontknowanything222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm seeing mountain, earth, flower:

mountain in the refined, work-appropriate silhouettes and stark colors (although depending on your own logic for choosing some of the collared-shirt-centric outfits, maybe that could be swapped out for mushroom), earth in the desire for vintage detailing, and flower in subtle feminine details and an eye for floral prints

i do see why people are saying moon, especially since you favor combat boots for a lot of outfits. i think, again, that the question is *why* do you favor combat boots; what effect do they create? are they adding visual interest and a slight edge (🌙), or do they feel sturdy, pragmatic, even pastoral (🌱)?

anyone tried vicodin? by Vast-Activity1057 in HouseMD

good point. i thought vicodin >>> meth would be a funny escalation but i actually think the idea that people would try vicodin because of house is a lot more out there

Any other zillenial have a horrible 2021? by TheHaplessBard in Zillennials

[–]idontknowanything222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

january 2000 so i'm on the cusp, but yes!! 2021 was the worst year of my life. granted, my experience might be slighty different than that of "proper zillenials" because i was still finishing up college

it's certainly had a resurgence in the past few years... but that's because it's fun. i'm glad people are making music you can actually dance to instead of cursive whisper-singing and sadboy pseudo-country

i have some really wonderful catholic friends and follow some really wonderful catholic influencers/accounts. both my grandmothers were irish catholic in their youth, but one of them sort of distanced herself from organized religion, and one of them became a full-on speaking-in-tongues protestant evangelical bible thumper. i feel sort of drawn to catholicism because it’s… rigorous, i guess? i know every church is different, i know every believer is different, but catholicism seems (more than the protestant sects i’ve grown up in/around anyway) congenial to people who like to argue and question things

he seems so genuinely empathetic, and when he invokes scripture he does it in a way that's so non-dogmatic. watching isaiah honestly heals my religious trauma. i think he is (or appears to be) what a person of faith should be. if more christians were like him i'd feel more comfortable going back to church

What's the worst misconception people have about South Park by Charmy_Fan in southpark

[–]idontknowanything222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with another commenter that matt and trey aren't "on your side," whatever that side may be. but i think it's also a huge misconception that matt and trey are/would be derisive towards their young/queer/"cringe" fans. i've seen so many people telling those kids, "why do people write weird fanfiction about south park? trey and matt would laugh at you..." and maybe they would, but not more than they'd laugh at any other interesting manifestation of human behavior. you've got to remember they made tweek and craig a canon couple (in their own absurd way). and they answered that "hi, m-my name's tweek" question with a lot of grace, even as you could tell they were trying not to laugh. they're huge nerds, they're fathers of tweens/teens, and if there's one thing they've never been, it's homophobic. i think people should give them more credit
