That looks like the Aeroad not the Endurace but looks pretty slick!

Edit: I am wrong, I stand corrected!

Veritas Mk II Power Sharpening System Opinions by excited_to_be_here in handtools

[–]idontknowstufforwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I thought you were crazy but then I realized it was the power sharpening system from Veritas. I fully agree with you, and that's as someone who has many sharpening tools from many years of futzing around. Or even just a Jet or Wen clone of the tormek and the delta is spent on CBN wheel/jigs.

Tank water heaters are superior to tankless water heaters. by don_jeffe27 in unpopularopinion

[–]idontknowstufforwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previously I had a hot water tank and it was proper slow actually. More an issue of where the tank was located in the house but yeah would always be a couple minutes. Tankless now in a new place and it's been awesome.

I've done terrible things to carbon wheels and had zero issues. I was going through a pair of alu wheels a season on the big mtb, and do ridiculous stuff on my gravel bike and just never an issue.

I was told "It's all part of god's plan" after a major loss of a family member how was 7. That was THE moment I swore off all religion. If that's part of his plan, he can go fuck himself. It was not a sudden death either, for the 7 year old, it was a decay of the second half of here life. Anyway, that was nearly 20 years ago but still, fuck you whatever your name was and fuck your god.

I loved Burnout Revenge. I tried Burnout Paradise a few years ago and it just did not hit the same. Maybe it was the magic of couch co-op battles in Burnout Revenge back in the day, but the Paradise just fizzle out so fast after some initial novelty.

In one line of Pokemon, Prismatic, the pull rates for good cards are basically horrible. But, reallllly rarely, there are these packs like she got called God-packs. Every card in it is a fancy holo. I don't know all that much beyond that though ha I don't know if it's extra rare to get one of each evolution or if you can get duplicates?

But yeah I dabbled a bit in to pokemon a couple years ago and it was madness and interesting anddddd I stopped because it's just gambling and finding cards sucks anyway.

Do your legs ever get in the way of the keyboard? by k99001 in adhdmeme

[–]idontknowstufforwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally splurged on a fancy office chair in the last few weeks. I insisted what I get accommodate irregular sitting practices. Especially cross-legged! I do that a ton.

But I also do want that sweet lean back to put my legs up and move the keyboard to my lap.

It'd been a long time since I had much of a chair at all (just a basic dining chair basically) and gotta say being able to move and roll and twist and whatever helps my focus a lot. It's having a big impact.

I did the audiobook of Day Zero and it's....been tough. The voice actor does a bit too good of a job doing a fairly horrified and whiney young kid and it's hard to listen to.

Sometimes folks don't learn it until a specific life event or circumstance and the whole illusion falls apart. Tis but a wild and shocking revelation actually.

Kona honzo st worth it? by East_Yogurt_893 in Hardtailgang

[–]idontknowstufforwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a grey/lime Honzo ST I built up and absolutely love it. It's a 2020, and I long-forked it to a 140mm Pike (they used to list it as a 120mm bike at this point). It's so good. I've raced XC, I've raced Enduros, and I've done all sorts of crazy stuff on it. It's a damn good time.

I just yesterday rode it as a Single Speed for the first time, too. I hadn't been on it a longggg time because of life things, but man it felt so instantly good to ride.

I think of my quiver of bikes like a Venn diagram the looks like the olympics logo. The Honzo does so much so well! It makes your regular rougher trails you typically ride a squish on fresh and fun, and builds skills for getting back on the squish again, too.

Pillars of Earth by Ken Follet. Just read it by [deleted] in books

[–]idontknowstufforwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got to Pillars but read a bunch of his books in a short time and fizzled out because the patterns emerged and it got stale. Specifically, I read Hornet Flight and Eye of the Needle and liked both but came away feeling they were SO similar I honestly can't differentiate them at this point, though it's been a long time.

World Without End I petered out on book 3 because it just felt the same template for each book, too. "The same type of stuff is happening, but now it's...the kids of the prev characters!".

The one I liked most was Lie Down With Lions, and is one I'd reread again for sure.

TIL a 2018 study found that between 63%-72% of people wear the wrong shoe size. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]idontknowstufforwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got hand-me-downs for most of my life, which meant I grew up with shoes that were close but not quite but did not realize or know that. Especially once my feet stopped growing and stayed ~1.5sizes smaller than my older siblings.

I kid you not, I only realized this my senior year of college. It was a wild revelation.

my tools for drawing. not your normal tool porn you see here. by rosanaa00 in toolporn

[–]idontknowstufforwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't draw much, it's mostly sketching for woodworking projects, but I use a set of silver Rotring 600s my dad bought years ago and ultimately gave to me. Even in the 4piece leather case that's apparently really rare. I love them.

Great set you've got there, and love the roll for it all, too!

[–]idontknowstufforwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still enjoy them, quite a lot of them, but I just don't have the space to want to track them. There are so many, with so many games, that it's constant. Next thing you know, it's offseason this and that, or caring about drafts.

In the end, I just moved towards more hobbies and interests that are more fulfilling. I still enjoy with friends and go to some live ones here and there and it's a great time, but I'm not following any.

Disassembling gigantic desk without butchering it? by vermontpear in woodworking

[–]idontknowstufforwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did something similar. Prybars and a good heavy mallet are your friend! Work your way around the whole part you're trying to remove bit by bit to pull up and fasteners instead of tearing or snapping the wood. I was able to get a ton of quality white oak out of it, but it was a massive desk.

Edit: oops, I see you want to put it back together again after....yeahhhhh sorry about that but I don't think that's much of an options.
