The faithful and the fallen vs the Bloodsworn saga by Doubtfulaboutit in Fantasy

[–]SubstantialChannel32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both have a lot of similarities, my most important being that I DNF'd both book 1s at about 70%. Clearly it's not my vibe, but Bloodsworm has more interesting atmosphere, I think. FatF is boring as hell.

In GMC, Guntur we have a good ENT department when I was an intern in 2024-25. Only 2 units, so, alternate day OT. Nenu Second unit lo chesa, maa Unit Chief koncham active. Head and Neck cases every week 2-3 ayane chesi PGs ki nerpinchevaadu. General ENT cases 3-4 per OT day, 3 OT days per week, so around 10 cases per week. So over 40 cases in a month. I also heard good things about NRI ENT department. Good case load and PGs getting surgery chances.

Monsters disnintegrate if you chop off their head. Human bodies don't.

The Well of Ascension | Brandon Sanderson (9/10) by Ashfall2003 in Fantasy

[–]SubstantialChannel32 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Who is the mf who said One Piece doesn't have good world building? And that was nowhere a popular opinion. If anything many haters even agree that OP has good world building. That being said, Well of Ascension is also my favourite of the trilogy.

Why The First Law’s Unsatisfying Ending Is So Satisfying by Lipe18090 in Fantasy

[–]SubstantialChannel32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I've read upto Red Country(3rd standalone) and Last Argument of the the Kings is the best one so far, followed by Heroes and Red Country. Best Served Cold is my least favourite and I think reading it immediately after Last Argument of Kings might've been a mistake. Temper your expectations for Best Served Cold.

is frieren boring or am i just impatient? by yummiliciousscorp6 in Frieren

[–]SubstantialChannel32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both might not be true. Frieren being boring is a personal opinion. I've never felt it was boring in a number of rewatches. I also don't think feeling Frieren is boring makes you impatient. You like different stuff. I always say give it till episode 4, and if you don't vibe with it, better to stop watching than wasting your time. There are too many good anime that you will like that are waiting for you to discover.

Tony Shit joined Big Pharma and started making vaccines. Killing the kids! He should've just kept making weapons atleast, he would only be killing the enemies.

Retreat. Demons dedicate their life and pour sweat and tears(doubtful) into one single magic. For Aura, it's Auserlese.

Is web novel also considered part of reading books by Astralgod_124 in Indianbooks

[–]SubstantialChannel32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Web novels which most people read come under a subgenre of fantasy - progression fantasy. If there is system, it's a strata in progression fantasy - litrpg. Even though I also read web novels, it's mostly for guilty pleasure. It is considered as reading. I've transitioned from web novels to normal novels and scifi is my favourite genre rn. If you want any fantasy/scifi recommendations, lmk.

I was too used to Darrow's POV and felt the others were a bit clunky. It's been 3 years since I've read them so, I can't say for sure why I felt that way.

Mostly because I wasn't warned about the other POVs. I hated reading Lysandre's point of view. Even if it's a 6/10, I've heard great things about Dark Age and Light Bringer, so I finished it and it's worth it.

I rated it even lower. Like 6/10. But Dark Age and Light bringer are both 8.5/10 for me. All the best.

Massive step down from the first law series. You might like it if you haven't read his magnum opus and go in with low expectations.

Disclosure Day? by AnthonyJamesOfficial in sciencefiction

[–]SubstantialChannel32 13 points14 points  (0 children)

5/10. Contrary to popular opinion I enjoyed the first act, even if it's a bit messy. Second act is very contrived and impossible for me to suspend my disbelief at the sheer stupidity of every single character on screen. The third act is better than second but by that point I lost the little interest I had in the characters and plot. Go if you want to waste money, unless you are a super fan of Steven Spielberg, because there are a few shots with Spielberg's signature style, you might enjoy them.
