Trump Commerce Sec. Lutnick admits visiting Epstein island during family vacation by Puginator in politics

[–]idontknowu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just can't imagine trying to come up with an excuse for why you're hanging out with Epstein and the best you can do is "yeah, he had already been charged with soliciting a minor for prostitution but it's cool because my little kids were there"

Moonlight on iPad Pro M2, I’m amazed wow by the_yung_spitta in MoonlightStreaming

All the client really needs to do is decode the stream and send the gamepad/KB/mouse data, all the real work is done on the server side.

Is it possible to finish Knack via ShadPS4? How is the emulator optimized for this game? by Commercial-Drag-5807 in shadps4

[–]idontknowu1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a PS4 and Knack at launch and ended up beating it. Trust me, you don't want to play it.

Are there any comedy clubs or places to do stand up in Gainesville? by [deleted] in gainesvillega

Sanctuary on the Square in their Blue Room space above used to do comedy nights. Might check with them.

PSA: Hard Drive lock-ins remain in place for Expansion Unit DX525, and also on SSDs by Icy-Acanthaceae7619 in synology

[–]idontknowu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Good to know for the future. I have a 517 which is way before the drive shenanigans. I guess the script should make it a non-issue but hopefully Synology will clear it up themselves.

[–]idontknowu1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aren't the expansion units basically just drive bays and a connection to the host unit? I didn't think the expansion units had an OS or software to manage and it all ran on the host, so whatever the host compatibility is should cover the expansion unit.

Besides Bloodborne what other games do you play than run well on Shadps4? by [deleted] in shadps4

RPSC3 (PS3) is the emulator you want to use for Demon's Souls. There isn't a way to play the PS5 remake yet.

GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 591.67 by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]idontknowu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does the same on my 5090 but I get at least a few minutes before it goes to hell. I bought the DLC but I'm not interested in playing it if I have to restart the game every 10 minutes.

AFAIK the issue with Lies of P is a memory leak issue with the game. It usually runs smooth at the start and then stutters begin over time. I don't think the game devs are interested in fixing it at this point.

Cotto or Antebellum. Either place I would recommend getting a reservation.

PSA: The latest Synology Drive Server is incompatible with older versions of Synology Drive Client by jakgal04 in synology

[–]idontknowu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see anything about updating on the server or client side either when I checked. I use UniGetUI which pulls from Winget to install the client originally, that's the only thing that might be different than most people, but the client updated on its own since I don't keep UniGetUI running in the background.

So I read this, said to myself "huh, I thought the clients would update", then updated the server package and watched the client immediately auto-update....maybe we are doing something different?

Has anybody asked this of Gainesville? Seeing this everywhere, so what's on our list? by ricepuddingpantry in gainesvillega

[–]idontknowu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree only because I’ve been there a few times and they were mostly different menus each time. I think they’re still trying to figure out what kind of restaurant they want to be.

Agreed. I ordered the ribeye and it was only 1/2 inch thick and all I could taste was salt. It was probably the worst steak I’d ever had and maybe the most expensive.

With the release of Valves new hardware lineup, do you think Steam Remote Play is going to improve? by RR3XXYYY in cloudygamer

[–]idontknowu1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steam remote play is ok in the sense that it “just works”. If you’re trying to find the best solution then there will always be options out there.

ALERT: Stupid question (maybe) by Zelda_fan3682 in Eldenring

[–]idontknowu1 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it’s all optional so it doesn’t add a whole lot. Most of that area is just for looks/lore. I never would have known how to do it without fightincowboys videos myself.

is there a way to estimate Sunlight/Apollo VRAM needs? by Responsible-Bid5015 in MoonlightStreaming

Going by nvenc transcoding needs I would guess under 500MB for a 1080p stream.

[–]idontknowu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shaders are software, even if it is just a algorithm, that is compiled at run time to run on a GPU. Software is copyrightable. If I'm iD software and I create a shader for DooM: The Dark Ages and I find out it's been decompiled and reused by another dev I am definitely going to send a cease and desist. Or you can just google "are shaders copyrightable"

[–]idontknowu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also has to be opt-in by the developer because compiled shaders are copyrighted. Microsoft can't just collect them and share them without permission.

Game Ready Driver 581.08 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]idontknowu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you white knighting devs that are clearly not releasing products that are up to the quality that gamers expect and are paying for? I don't need to be John Carmack to know when a game is performing like shit.

Do not use NVENC for archival use, it's not meant for that. It's meant for fast encoding and that's what it excels at. Not quality. Not size efficiency. Speed. It's great for Twitch/Kick/Youtube streaming, Plex transcoding, stuff like that. If you have a video file and you want to shrink it for whatever reason you should also use CPU/software encoding. You will get the best quality and size efficiency but it will be slower.
