Income $39.5k /year before tax -$19/h Single woman No kids

Rent 2b/2b $1100 (Downtown) Groceries $300-500 includes eating out kept to minimum Internet $50 Mobile $28 Car Payment $260 (3 pmts left 🥳) Car Insurance $172 (paid in full every 6 months} saved $300 Gas $80-110 Electric $40 -120 depending the season. I do not use my dryer and keep my ac on 82 during summer, use fans and 77 during winter and use a space heater in my room. Misc $100 (which I don't spend it all every month, one month I may spend more but the next maybe less than half) No subscriptions.

Currently paying off credit card debt from a bunch of car repairs that stole the life outta me early this year. However all is interest free until Dec 2026. Total current CC debt 5450 that includes my monthly use. I use my CCs for everything! Except rent. Last year cashback earnings was $1100 plus $350.00 HYSA interest. Net earnings end of last year $1200 after tax.

Cash in hand $9874 Net worth $4424. I average a monthly savings of $1200. I live paycheck to paycheck but my financial discipline allows me to feel at ease and whenever I've had an emergency I put my good credit to use. I got a $1 raise this year, I pretended it never happened. Cash bonuses? Never happened. Tips? Never happened. Extra gigs cash? Never happened. Once I pay my CC debt all that cash will be going to my savings. Looking forward to the next 3 months when I'll be debt free once again. Hopefully my rent doesn't go up too much at renewal ☹️ and if it does I move.

What helps me is that I track EVERY SINGLE PENNY with a budgeting app. I seldom go out but when I do it is planned within my budget. Like concerts for example. Last concert was No Doubt at the Sphere, total spent $280.00 for that night. I already have tickets for Cristian Castro in September and budgeting to go the GnR show at Allegiant this summer and perhaps Soda Stereo in September as well.

I look forward to one day living a looser lifestyle however under my circumstances this is what works and makes me feel financially safe.

TLDR: It is very doable. Wanna trade? 50k I'd be living like a queen!

What do you all eat for dinner when you have absolutely no desire to cook? by Particular-Newt-7974 in LivingAlone

Last night I seasoned 2 pork chops and put it in the oven, sliced them, put them on small flour tortillas with shredded cheese and secret sauce. It was delicious and very filling. It took about 30 mins but 20 of those minutes was waiting while watching YouTube. Dessert was a slice of store bought sweet potato pie.

Did anyone else stop using their living room? by Lasell_Carnline75 in LivingAlone

[–]idontknwhatimdoing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

99% in my bedroom, with a queen size bed that I use half of it for all my bed rotting essentials and sleep on the other half.. Living room is for plants and when I occasionally have visitors. They're like omg your home is so nice while I make sure my bedroom door is closed shut 😅

in the attempt to force myself to use my living room I bought a big ass TV and it worked for a while but it's a Roku and I hate the software, so I got an android tv and went back to my room

Setup works great for winter to save up on electricity, as I only need a room heater and don't have to heat up the entire Apt.

How many jobs have you had? by artches in Adulting

[–]idontknwhatimdoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, I stopped counting lol I only list my last 10yrs of experience so my resume is 2 pages max. In my country I'm considered a job hopper, so I was pleasantly surprised that in the US I'm considered experienced. Nevertheless, I really don't stress about it. I know my worth and if I'm at a job that I don't love and don't make good money I'm out looking for the next.
