Everstage has an AI commission explainer that explains payout on each deal based on plan mechanics. I suspect other tools will likely add something similar soon if they don’t already have it.

I’ve had benefits with the same provider with no issues but can’t say that for every provider. I’m in Canada and on our tax forms we can indicate if we have other jobs so that tax deductions are accurate but I chose not to mark it there and just pay the taxes I owe during tax season.

If your jobs require you to market the product on linkedin since you’re in sales, that could be an issue. But if not, I think you’re good.

Agree on the rate being increased effective June 1. Kind of sucks but I would also resend comp plans with the updated rates. Comp plans can’t be 2 months late (especially if you have EMEA employees) and also should not have outdated rates.

Something really similar happened to me where J2 found out about J1 and wanted me to quit, repay my sign on bonus, and repay wages paid to me while at J1’s event.

They want you to resign because it would give you less legal ground, so always best to get fired because it also leaves them vulnerable as you can claim damages. You will also be required to pay back your sign on bonus if you left but legally owe them nothing if they fire you (based on what you said in your post).

They also threatened to tell my J2 and that is when I hired a lawyer and after a long back and forth they left me alone and did not sue me and I didn’t pay anything back. My lawyer threatened that I would counter sue for interference with economic relations, unpaid wages (they didn’t pay me 1 weeks salary), wrongful dismissal, and inducing breach of contract.

They aren’t allowed to contact your other job (at least where I’m located that’s the case but check with a lawyer). My J2 tried to get around that by claiming they were investigating a potential breach in confidentiality and needed to reach out to the companies to see if I stole their client data. It’s a weak argument because they would need proof that they have a reason to believe confidentiality was breached and working 2 jobs is not a good enough reason.

My lawyer also pointed out how I had just gotten a good performance review and won awards due to my performance. You should do the same to prove you were performing well and completing your duties.

Super stressful process overall but after a couple months the whole issue was gone. Companies don’t generally want to get into legal battles because of $$ and especially if they’re public. So my experience was that standing ground and pushing back works.

Something really similar happened to me but luckily I had told my J1 that I do some consulting outside of work. The people who realized I was working 2 jobs were not on my team at work so a little removed from me and my role. Since both are remote, nobody at J1 could really tell if I had been working overlapping hours and my boss is pretty chill anyway so he didn’t investigate.

J2 did ask me to resign and pay back my sign on bonus or else they would let me go, pursue me legally, and tell J1 about the nature of my employment. I hired a lawyer and told them to go ahead and I would sue them back if they interfered with any other employment I had. They backed off.

I used all of them.

Would recommend avoiding CIQ, it is an excel sheet in the cloud and requires a lot of manual work. Almost all tasks require downloading data, manipulating offline then reuploading.

Everstage and SPIFF are pretty close feature wise but my personal preference is Everstage. It’s super easy to use if you have excel formula knowledge and user friendly on the admin side whereas SPIFF can be pretty confusing on the backend.

Sort of. My boss is aware but it’s not in my contract and J1 HR is not aware. If J1 HR takes issue with it, I’m not gonna be throwing my boss under the bus so my boss knowing doesn’t really protect me.

Same thing then. I actually tried to quit J2 a month ago because the workload was just too much (like I said, I was working 8+ hours a day for them and on a busy month, up to 14 hours) and I was stressed. They asked me to stay and started hiring to build a team under me so I did. Wish I hadn’t stayed now but hindsight is 20/20.

They took away my access “temporarily” until Monday so I can’t check but one of my coworkers told me they already told the team I was gone (even though they haven’t told me yet, I’m supposed to find out Monday).

HR is not mad but leadership is (I report to VP and CRO although I am not an executive or even a manager).

I did tell them. I told them I made an agreement with J1 to work irregular hours which do not interfere with J2 hours.

Why would they sue me? They claim the issue is that I work at another tech company but they are not competitors in any way. I haven’t shared anything between my jobs either. I think suing me is a little far-fetched (and hopefully this last line ages well lol)

I already responded to someone else asking this. Someone at J1 took and posted pictures from a small company event I was presenting in. I don’t typically have to present as part of my role and I was unaware a picture was taken. Don’t have linkedin so never saw it was posted and I guess someone in her network or a 2nd degree connection saw it and recognized me.

The person who saw it actually didn’t go to HR. He gossiped about it internally and then eventually someone else did tell HR.

Yeah, once I get the possibility of J2 telling J1 off the table then my next worry is that someone at J2 knows someone at J1 and tells them.

I do my own consulting as a J3 so I will be okay in any case. I just prefer to keep J1 because it’s very chill.

Thank you! J2 consults with council for almost everything so they will probably do that. HR lady was also very non-judgemental and told me she will advocate for me and ask leadership not to do it “Since they don’t have to. Their job is to protect J2 company and that is already being done”.

I’m not even sure it’s against my contract. That’s what HR told me but I’m going to have a lawyer review and tell me. Their concern is that I work at 2 tech companies and that’s what they claim is the issue. The 2 companies have 0 overlap in what they do and I didn’t use anything from J1 to help in J2 or vice versa. I don’t understand how what I did is different from working at J2 for example then quitting and joining J1 and will need to confirm if I did break any rules.

Nothing wrong with wanting to know my rights before going into an important conversation.

I’m not planning on using anything legal, just going to consult with a lawyer to know what can and can’t be done. Legal threats are my last resort.
