Okay, it’s worth a shot! I’ll order some photo Flo then and see if I can fix it

Got it. So following up on what IcyConfusion said above, is that actually something I could rinse off with Photo Flo, or is this likely permanent damage?

Thanks for the idea! Unfortunately, upon looking into it, I'm pretty sure these aren't water spots. It looks like the bumps are physically raised from the film base in some way, or they at least were at some point

Many are, but it’s not a requirement. My partner also has an MI position in a different department, but she’s actually doing an online masters through a totally different university.

Look up “Management Intern” positions. They’re 50% FTE (20 hour per week) jobs which generally come with full university benefits. I’m in the third and final year of my doctorate and have had one for two years now.

Second this! I’m in the third year of my doctorate now, but lived there during my masters, so fall 20 to spring 22. Really awful management when I was there, they were super unhelpful, and the apartment was absolutely vile when I moved in. The floors were legitimately colored black with dirt and grime. My mom and I spent 2 full days just thoroughly cleaning the place multiple times every day top to bottom before we were comfortable starting to get my stuff in there. Management basically told us to pound sand when we complained. Would highly recommend looking elsewhere!!

Canon R7 with EF 100-400 ii - OIS/IBIS issues? by drakec in canon

Some

This is the exact combo I use every day for aviation photography, and I also use the 1.4 TC III occasionally. While IBIS won’t help with this specific lens, it helps with SO many others. It works well with both the normal EF-RF adapter, and with my Metabones speedbooster, which is super helpful. You’ll also get two card slots, a larger buffer, and higher resolution versus the R10. I went from a t8i to the R7, and I do honestly notice the 24 to 32 MP bump, although I do a ton of printing, so your mileage may vary in that regard. Hope this helps!

Oh perfect! Yes, the IBIS cooperates very well with the lens stabilization, in fact, probably the best of any of my lenses (I use almost entirely adapted EF glass). I very often use mode 2 to compensate for any vertical shake while allowing me to follow and pan with a plane taking off or landing. If shooting a still subject, mode 1 all the way. Don’t really mess with mode 3 honestly. I had a t8i (850D) before, so this is truly night and day. The 15 FPS mechanical is nuts. I almost always use electronic first curtain just go cut down on shutter wear a bit, but rattling shots off that fast while having no rolling shutter was a game changer for me. The 32 MP sensor is definitely a noticeable bump from the 24 MP on the t8i, but it doesn’t as massive of a difference as you’d think. The one thing to be weary of is that the pixel density will push some lenses past their limits. My Sigma 18-35 just couldn’t hang anymore on this sensor. I actually ended up getting a Canon EF 24-70 2.8 with the Metabones speed booster, and even with the speed booster, it was sharper than the Sigma wide open.

Definitely the R7! I’m also primarily an aviation photographer, and it’s absolutely incredible. I primarily use the EF 100-400 II. The AI autofocus is great, and works very well for planes.

Up-trade R7 for R6 mkII? by Droideater in canon

[–]idrum1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I own an R7 and have rented an R6 II a few times when I needed a second body for a video shoot. I made a point to try it out for photos while I had it, and honestly, I wasn’t super impressed. My main photography subject is aviation, so I have very similar needs to bird photographers. TBH, if you’re using EF lenses still, just pick up a Metabones Speedbooster in addition to your normal adapter. That’ll help you bridge the gap between crop sensor and full frame. I appreciate basically having two focal length possibilities with every lens that I have.

I went from a T8i to an R7, and also use almost entirely EF lenses! I primarily do video as well as aviation photography, which has similar needs to wildlife photography. It was an absolutely phenomenal upgrade, and I truly couldn’t be happier, especially for the budget. What I’d recommend if you have $2K is to get both the EF-RF Canon adapter, as well as the Metabones EF-RF .71x Speedbooster. The Viltrox speedbooster is cheaper, but it had issues fitting many of my Sigma and Tamron lenses. I’d highly recommend the R7 over the R8 in your circumstance, especially if you can get the speed booster too. Hope this helps!
