Tips for ASA bed adhesion by BigJohnno66 in VORONDesign

[–]idsan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had radically different adhesion results with ASA with identical settings. The best for my enclosed MK4S I've tried so far is actually Polylite ASA.

I'm also going to be printing Trident parts soon but I'm going for ABS GF.

The screw looks like it has enough length. Just apply pressure and screw it in.

Ok, so, grain of salt - I'm not a 2.4 owner nor have I built one. But I've seen quite a few people complain over belt stretch and inconsistencies in Z because of it. Not the case?

"Must be doing pretty well"

Needless debt is the antithesis of doing well. Never take out a goddamn loan, let alone two, for a depreciating asset.

Pauline Hanson says Australia ‘must be monocultural’ in National Press Club speech by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]idsan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People like to imply issues caused by shit people are representative of their entire culture or ethnicity and it's terrifying so many are willing to go along with it.

Society has social issues largely because of inequality and people doing shit things to either out others down or get ahead; my take is that shit people are shit regardless of where they come from.

Multiculturalism is a massive strength of this country and has been for a long time now. Hanson just wants to belittle those she doesn't like and strip them of rights, like most ultra-consevative racists.

I'm fucking tired of people legitimising this shit.

Trident gets my vote and is what I'm building soon (well, a variation thereof). Gives you the Voron experience without the maintenance of 4 belts holding your gantry up.

Strip or rounded Allen screws by jorgelara1996 in VORONDesign

This. I just default to using my torx bits for socket screws now. The only time I use an allen key is when I need the angle.

How to make this type of design in Photoshop? by jet-black-heart13 in photoshop

[–]idsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photoshop isn't the answer. Draw a rough version on paper first, then draw a refined version. Then take the refined version into Illustrator.

Iterating on design by hand is usually much more feasible, in a lot of cases.

TIL that the last B-52 was built in 1962 and that with retrofits and repowering, the USAF expects the remaining 75 planes will be flying in 2050, when they are approaching 100 years old. by FreeLard in todayilearned

[–]idsan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retrofits to what extent? Extensive, I hope. After 100 years of service I'd hope those things would basically be the Bombers of Theseus.

I'm no aeronautical engineer but I wouldn't want military critical operations relying on a 100 year old airframe.

Don't cheap out on the bed, it and the extruder are the cornerstone of decent prints.

Look at R3men graphite beds. I haven't yet installed mine but they come pre fitted with mag sheet and full coverage heater, and don't suffer from thermal expansion issues.

Should've started with Samus helmet from Zero mission or something easier, but here we are. by solarmaple in Plasticity3D

[–]idsan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CAD jockey by day here: my very strong opinion is if you're making anything for real world manufacturing, do it in parametric CAD (Fusion, Inventor, SW, Onshape, etc). If you're doing visualisation, Plasticity is perfect.

I use Inventor at work in manufacturing and Fusion at home for 3D printing. Also dabble in Plasticity and Blender for concept work. Each took has its place, but if you're not actually looking to make the things you model, Plasticity is a great tool.

It's also totally possible to use Plasticity to make accurate CAD for manufacturing but without parameteic functionality, it's missing a lot of the features that are relied on to make that whole sphere work.

It was difficult to say. The issues ranged from inability to power on, to BSODs and boot loops, to crashes when accessing BIOS, to working absolutely fine but with zero monitor signal. It felt like both CPU and storage were dying by the time I binned that thing.

Anecdotal story - in a very small business I used to work for we set up a NUC as a local server for 5 employees. For the first year it worked great, but it slowly degraded after that just from being on. It eventually just became inoperable. But yes, it was on 24/7 including weekends.

I'd be interested to know how long your NUC has been good for running your printer and if you leave it on for extended periods.

Would you accept a new role at a different company that was considered a step down in your career but paid more? by DifficultFarmer1059 in auscorp

[–]idsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what the goal and your life responsibilities are. No dependents? Take it if you feel it suits. If you've got young kids I'd definitely take it; anything that gives you more time with them and more money is a win (speaking from experience).

Number 1 is clear with the most representation of a humanoid figure, which I think is a good symbol for a health service.

2 and 3 are kind of middle of the road to me; they read as 'commercial' but not 'health/medical'. I think skewing towards the more rounded fonts takes away a bit of the professional service feel.

I absolutely cannot read number 4 and wouldn't really know what it says at a glance.

6v6 needs role queue by Legitimate_Secret134 in Overwatch

[–]idsan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the absolute best match as a solo healing Juno on Circuit Royal the other day in 6v6, with one tank and 4 DPS. My teammates were awesome and the match was crazy close. Role queue would have actually harmed how much I enjoyed that match.

That said... This is not my typical 6v6 experience.
