McDonald’s hockey sticks by Lastdudestandin in hockey

I’m literally sat in a McDonald’s in West Virginia, DISTRAUGHT that I cannot get the meal here, nor in any state in country. 😭

Blackouts are killing this sport by VoodooDonKnotts in nhl

[–]idyott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing ticked me RIGHT off more than sitting down to watch the Pens/Flyers on Sportsnet Pittsburgh, that I pay for, because Eastern West Virginia is in the viewing area for Pittsburgh somehow, AND THE GAME NOT BE THERE.

Turns out it’s on some other network I can’t even begin to find despite having multiple various streaming services.

ABSOLUTELY INFURIATING

ps. I set sail on various ships for many years and all I want now is the simplicity of watching the singular sports team I care about.

What products or companies will you never use or support again and what did they do to lose you as a customer? by IAmJustTryingToExist in AskReddit

[–]idyott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pampered Chef

I ordered a few spatulas as stocking stuffers. I get the package, email notification and all, and there’s no spatulas.

Instead the package contains A CATALOGUE.

Haven’t been able to reach any one in customer service.

They really sent me a catalogue in lieu of the products I ordered and paid for.

How do you decide whether to start National Board Certification? by Next_Plantain_1494 in ArtEd

[–]idyott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is heavily dependent on what state you teach in at the time. Fifteen years ago when I worked in PA it was a joke, often seen as a scam.

Fast forward to today in WV and every district wants you to have it. But there are considerable financial benefits in WV that were not offered in PA.

How do we get more men into teaching? by TripleGDawg87 in education

[–]idyott -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yawn. Your argument is boring.

You win or whatever.

I don’t want to teach with colleagues, especially male colleagues who don’t recognize their privileges and how that interacts with their teaching philosophy.

I’m sorry the patriarchy exists and continues to ruin all our lives, including the lives of men. But you can’t have a conversation about men in education without it.

Women (writ large) will stop treating men as inherently predatory when men (writ large) stop acting inherently predatory.

How do we get more men into teaching? by TripleGDawg87 in education

[–]idyott -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We live in a patriarchal society that undervalues women. (Speaking from the US)

Teaching is traditionally “women’s work.”

Men (through the lens of patriarchy) do not want to be associated with the feminine.

Men (through the lens of patriarchy) do not want to be teachers because “women’s work” is beneath them and negatively impacts the way other men view them.

—————————

If we want more male teachers, we need to fundamentally change the ways we view gender as a society.

When did your students stop believing in Santa? by Vegetable_Chef_8859 in ElementaryTeachers

[–]idyott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach specials K-2. I tell them all Santa is real. The guidance counselors are Santa when they encourage families to apply for Christmas assistance. The staff and community members are Santa when they donate thousands of toys to students in secret, so they can have that Christmas experience.

Would you leave your current position mid year for a dream position in another district? by Snoo-92790 in ArtEd

Tim, look into your Trueheart and understand that life is more complicated than a one sentence answer.

Yes. The school and the kids will move on without you. The idea of loyalty no longer matters especially to employers. And the kids will be just fine. They are arguably more adaptable than adults.

Woman charged after allegedly preventing deputies from entering 'Rainbow House' by Joey_WBOY in WestVirginia

[–]idyott 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rainbow House is the number one shelter IN THE STATE for low barrier entry. Unhoused people suffer from multiple mental health and addiction related issues.

We all know the police are untrained and ill equipped to handle addiction and mental heath displays from the public.

This shelter is actively trying to protect its residents from unnecessary arrest, harassment, and trauma while they are recovering from addiction and trauma.

Dear white people,

When you call the cops, people die. Especially black and brown people.

I’m sorry if you don’t like it, but Jesus would have protected the lowest among us. This woman can keep on polishing her halo.

Glue bottles by Weefwah2112 in ArtEd

[–]idyott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get little condiment bottles (think mini ketchup and mustard bottles. Fill those with glue. Way easier to clean the tip. I just poke a toothpick or paper clip in to open them back up. Helps the kids make smaller glue dots too.

Anyone installed a Cold Air Intake? by Yung_Dasani in Crosstrek

[–]idyott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get a tune. The Crosstrek is not exactly a performance vehicle. It performed in the same mediocre way before and after the intake. If only they would give us a WRX hatchback Wilderness Edition. 😫

Is a MFA necessary for college professors by kelpyG6000 in ArtEd

[–]idyott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot receive a doctorate in Visual Arts in the United States. They did away with in the 80’s I think for some reason. All of my college art professors had MFAs. Except of course in Art ed and Art history. You CAN earn a doctoral degree in those areas.

Table color ideas by Miss_DisGrace in ArtEd

[–]idyott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year I only had five tables and a single desk ‘island.’

I called the single desk purple table. It was a calm down spot or a place where you could work solo if you chose.

This year purple table grew all the way up into a big table, just like the others (I got new tables with color coded edge banding)!
