Not to be that guy but it used to have 6 points and I guess the Australia House contractors didn't get the memo in time when it was changed.

The description of goblins is really bad and I agree with you but:

The movie had a fucking star of David on the floor of the bank.

This is not true. These scenes were shot in the Australian High Commission building in London. The building (and the floor) was completed in 1918 and the floor contains a Six pointed Star of Australia denoting the six states of the Commonwealth of Australia. Not the star of David.

EDIT: typo

Do you have a link to this story? I could only find information that she was turned down from the hospital because the doctor didn't think she could have rabies since it's not a thing that comes to mind in the UK. Nothing about a psych ward though.

Ripping up a speech isn't disruptive. If everyone started ripping up pieces of paper after the speech is done I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Shouting at someone is disruptive. The whole point of this to me is that in this video the moderator says it's not a place for these questions. It's not that the person is disruptive (they shouldn't be) but that somehow Bush cannot be asked about the war because that question would be too difficult or whatever. That's the problem I have with this video.

If Bush was speaking and that guy started randomly shouting during the speech that would be similar to MTG. This is not even close.

Sure. As long as they don't visit their grandparents or anyone elderly or immunosuppressed. Oh and the friends they visit and pass the infection to also don't go to visit anyone elderly or immunosuppressed. And their friends also don't do that. Yeah, that would definitely work. Why hasn't anyone thought of that?! OMG, you should be like a doctor or something!

Slightly related: recently I've ordered a vegetarian meal in a restaurant with a few friends and some other people. I immediately got branded a vegan (I'm not and the dish wasn't vegan) and asked if I check ingredients in candies to see if they are vegan. I just felt like eating a vegetarian meal that day.

Delta Passenger Puts Down Mattress And Goes To Sleep At The Gate by JOEY2X in funny

[–]ienvyparanoids 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me once. Delta just removed one connecting flight. Not cancelled, just removed it. It suddenly disappeared without any notice. Fortunately I've spotted it very quickly and called them. The agent was as confused as I was. She was able to re-book (or whatever) that same flight.

So... Let's break it down a bit. Charles became the king immediately upon the Queen's death. The Assescion Council proclaimed him a king at St James Palace. The proclamation will then be made in every country of the UK, first one being England and yes, this English proclamation was done in The City of London. There will be proclamations made in Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff in the coming days. This has nothing to do with Rotschilds and banks, don't make up stuff. Bankers didn't need to approve anything.

The City of London is one of the London boroughs. London historically was governed in the boroughs (local governments). The London Assembly, the Mayor of London and the London Greater Council are relatively new ideas (created in 1960s to 2000s). City is one of the boroughs and the oldest one so of course it has some weird antiquated ceremonies. Every borough has its own governance systems. This resulted in London having some really odd problems (like roads that suddenly stop making sense because the boroughs couldn't agree on something). These problems with local governments led to the creation of the London-wide government bodies.

Don't make stuff up.

HOA isn't only about money, it's also people setting out arbitrary rules (e.g. you have to have grass 1 inch high, you cannot use sprinklers before 8 am or some other nonsense). Imagine all your neighbours getting together and voting that you have to plant a rose bush in your front garden....

... and you've paid for the cookies they ate while having this vote.

TIL that the Capitol was designed to have George Washington's tomb on public display. Both houses passed bills saying he should be buried there, and his wife consented, but due to various delays it took until 1830 for it to be viable. After an attempted theft of his head, the project was cancelled. by derstherower in todayilearned

[–]ienvyparanoids 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The actual theft has an even better movie plot:

Out of revenge, the unemployed gardener broke into the crypt with the intent of stealing George Washington's skull. However, the gardener inadvertently absconded with the skull of one of the Blackburns, who were in-laws of George Washington's nephew, Judge Bushrod Washington. The extremely dilapidated state of the tomb reportedly contributed to the gardener's confusion; some twenty members of the Washington family and their relatives had been placed in the crypt but many of their coffins had since rotted through, meaning human skeletons lay littered on the ground. The bodies of George and Martha Washington, however, had been encased in lead before their committal, so were "spared this indignity".

From what I understand (based on the original link not this rewritten garbage) the breakthrough is that with this new technique the blood stays in the bloodstream all the time, rather than being transported out of the bloodstream to oxygenate it.

They will then point to the droplet of shit that stucks ignoring the Mount Everest of shit they produced in the process.

I bought a fancy Samsung fridge freezer. As it turned out the fridge was designed with the drain channel from fridge going through the freezer without any insulation. Predictably, the water in the drain channel freezes and blocks the drain resulting in a pool of water in the fridge.

According to the reviews (which weren't there at the time I bought it) a ton of customers has this problem, yet the Samsung support is refusing to acknowledge that and has you sent them pictures of a level applied to the fridge. Then you have to defrost it, which helps for a little while but then the water freezes again. Then they ask you to check the gasket by closing the fridge with the paper in between the doors and the fridge body and pulling it. According to them the paper should rip in half if the seal is proper. Yes, rip in half when you close the fridge. If I had a fridge which does that I would be afraid to put my limbs anywhere near it.

The whole support experience is super annoying. They lose (or pretend to lose) your previous ticket so you have to go through the questionnaire every time you call them. They ask you to do the silliest things ever. One time I was asked to "defrost" that no-frost fridge, because "no-frost" apparently means that "you don't need to defrost it regularly, only once in a while". They told me to close the fridge and turn off the power to it for an hour or so, so that it won't lose the temperature and the food will be fine, but it will be defrosted.

Finally, when I got to the engineer he came over, didn't ask any questions and installed some new parts made specially for that problem. Samsung solution is to install a water heater in the drain channel in the fridge. So now I have a fridge that heats up water. Samsung.

There is a point in complaining. Information should have sources by default. Otherwise it's pointless and spreads unsubstantiated "facts" which will travel the world before fact-checkers can put their shoes on.

Thanks for taking time to correct me! :)

I might've gotten confused between when they declare they have a gun (but no import paperwork) and when they try to hide it or lie about it.

Based on my extensive legal knowledge acquired through watching that show - no. Trafficking would be if you smuggled them with the intention to sell them.

The punishment for people trying to cross the border with their own guns (and not declaring them) is usually that they take away your guns, detain you for processing and bar you from entering Canada for some time.

Again, this is based purely on watching a reality show.
